so my friend is trying to take care of some plants and they definitely don't look too healthy. my friend has absolutely zero knowledge on growing so what would be the easiest and simplest way to stabilize these plants? luckily it's just bagseed, and hopefully this will help him learn some growing techniques to help me in the future

184watts of CFL @2700k
Perlite/Peatmoss/Dolomite Lime mix
fed once with 1/2 strength Flora Nova Grow

When were they fed? How long ago.
They almost looked scortched by the lights but wouldn't think floros could do THAT.

they were fed on 6/30. since then they've been fed filtered water about once a week. i really doubt its scorched by the light because i have a plexiglass sheet separating the light chamber from the growing chamber.

should i just have him trim off the dead leaves and give a light feeding?

yeah i don't think it's a fertilizer problem, ive used FNG for 2 previous grows... trying to figure out wtf is going on lol i found growing easy would've thought my friend would be able to at least keep em alive haha

only think I can imagine is they were burnt by nutrients....your soil looks almost muddy, is there good drainage? I'm thinking maybe the nutes were sticking around in the soil for too long...

ugh get them out of that soil. Get them in something decent like some mix from your local hydro store or maybe eb stone organics from armstrongs..... that mix is going to kill them.

Perilite tends to yellow a bit on the top but hogwild is right ... that mix is rather hideous lookin. IMHO That medium didn't get all muddy and salty like that, with the build up on the pots that I see too, from being fed once with flora nova grow and watered with filtered H2O. Something else has to be going on. Is there a possibility that mix is recycled? I tend to devote too much energy to solving plant problems but I would not try to save those. Well maybe the one in the first pic to the far left. If you want to give it a try getting them in a more stable medium after knocking most of that mix off the roots is a good idea.

I'm guessing too much peat in the mix. I don't use dolomite lime so I'm not sure what effect too much would have. What were the ratios of your mix? It looks like it's mainly the primary new growth that is affected, the secondary new growth doesn't look too bad. If you can find the source of your problem you could prune off the affected tops and let the secondaries take over.

That's what I can't figure out. If the mix was so bad then how did he/she get those decent looking lower leaves. The scortching would seem to coincide with the feeding. H'mm?

the mix is like 60% perlite and 40% peat its got good drainage and i've had two successful harvests from this mix before. the soil is no recycled. i have no idea what my buddy is doing, hopefully he can keep em alive till i get back or just scrap these and make brownies out of em.

you can see salt buildup around the top of the soil line on the containers. it's definitely nute burn imo

To me its looks like a heat issue from CFL. Do you know your temp with lights on?
Maybe nute burn if just poured over the top and stayed heavy on those leaves then put in the heat.
