FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Fresno County sheriff's operation shut down five medical marijuana collectives for the day Wednesday. Action News got some exclusive access to the raid known as "Operation Full Compliance."

Officers served search warrants at five collectives -- four in Tarpey Village and one on Friant Road. They also raided five residences and two warehouses connected to the collectives.
Investigators seized a lot of pot, but they were much more interested in something else.
It might not look like much, but an anonymous East Central Fresno strip mall warehouse is actually the ground floor of the local pot business, according to Fresno County sheriff's investigators.
Action News got exclusive access as officers carried out 18 boxes filled with marijuana plants, plus one box of ready for sale marijuana. But the biggest find was a safe filled with cash, and possible evidence of financial cheating.
"We'll be looking for phone records, bank records, and financial information," said Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims.
Investigators say the pot at the warehouse was destined for the medical marijuana collective Buds 4 or Life, just a few miles away in Tarpey Village. It's one of 12 locations raided by deputies looking for proof local collectives are operating at a profit -- which is illegal under the state's medical marijuana law.
Dozens of patients scattered as some of the 200 officers involved in the operation served a search warrant at Buds 4 Life.
"They didn't handcuff us, but they lined us up in rows and started taking our marijuana," said Ryan Jackson, who was inside as officers raided the collective.
While patients like Jackson complained they'd now be forced to get marijuana from street dealers, neighbors celebrated the raid. They say the collective attracts a criminal element to their neighborhood.
"I'm sometimes scared even to go in the back when they're asleep because there's so many cars parked here," said Melissa Castillo, who lives two houses down from Buds 4 Life. "They do drug deals in front of the house."
The raid was important enough for Sheriff Mims to watch from the sky, and on the ground, but district attorney Elizabeth Egan may eventually play the most critical role.
The biggest news could come further down the road, after investigators go through all the paperwork they seized Wednesday and find out if the collectives were actually turning a profit. If they were, Egan could prosecute them.

According to the FEDS, a collective means that all of the members, the entire patient base, cultivate together, in one place; so as to prevent one person from profiteering off of the others.

According to the feds one plant is a felony and they have NO FUCKING BUSINESS interpreting state law. State law is interpreted by state courts and CA has spoken that people can collaborate. How is the guy bed ridden with aids or the like going to lift 30gal bags of soil? You know have everyone in one place so no one is profiteering, how fucking laughable.

I say shut down all the fucking pigs fed and state and life would be way better.

What if the Fresno fuck pigs can't prove a violation of California law? Oh well they fucked over lots of people and businesses and stole what the could, who cares if there was ANY merit to their interference.

To help people? Come on. I've been associated w/ this movement from the very beginning, alongside Denis Peron as we mapped out the future of it all.
However, now it's an ugly, and truly sleazy taste that's left in my mouth when law enforcement finds proof of profiiteering.

Jus' shut 'em all down, the dispensaries haven't helped anyone, 'cause they're undermining the progress that has been made.

For me, i was so much happier when we had none. I say that a Clandestine Cultivation Lab is the way to go, and stickin' your finger in the eye of law enforement is to be repudiated.

Watch, they're fuckin' goin' to dismantle the entire infrastructure of " in full compliance " dispensaries & collectives; effectively stamping out all of the gains made when the movement was grass roots, and not about $.

Also, a collective cannot have jus' one empirical, in charge person, cultivating for the entire patient base. According to the FEDS, a collective means that all of the members, the entire patient base, cultivate together, in one place; so as to prevent one person from profiteering off of the others.

I say shut 'em all down, and go Clandestine.

AMEN and Hallelujah, someone grew a brain!

Having grown up in Fresno/Clovis area this does not surprise me at all, but it sounds like they had a "hint" these "collectives" might have been bending the rules a bit.

I say good riddence!
