Fresh or dried trim?

Hi, I´m planning on using every gram of weed that I manage to grow and making cannabutter seems like a good idea. I do have some questions though:

1) Is fresh or dried trim better?

2) Does it hurt to use fan leaves and stems?

1) I've used dry trim before just cause I didn't want to make the butter right away, I think fresh would work too but might taste different.

2) No, there are cannabinoids in stems and leaves, but I've learned that to make very strong butter you need to use at least an ounce of frosty trim, kief, or buds per lb of butter. Personally, I love the taste from smoking my buds too much to lose to butter, so i just use the frosty trim, no fan leaves. The trick is to make up for it in the recipe- buttery goo-balls :canabis:

I've heard of people making tea with stems but haven't tried it myself.
I like to chew on em like toothpicks :rasta:

RMH: Or you could just ignore me and save yourself the trouble of writing.
 
I always heard to use fresh trim. If you used dried the leaf breaks up more and you get more crap in your butter. If you can't just freeze it in an airtight bag with some air to cushion & treat it as fragile cuz you'll knock the trichs off if you don't.

for sure use dried trim.


Since you are planning to use it all to make cannabutter, then water curing them seems a good idea, since you'll remove a lot of the nastiness...


if you air cure them: don't bother to manicure...

Seems to be several ways to skin a cat...I guess I´ll do some more research and see if I can come to a concensus.

So after doing a Search for kief -plenty of hits but none explaining what kief is- my best guess is that kief is weed powder that you get while grinding?

I've used fresh and dried trim to make butter. Doesn't make a difference, just dont use any dead brown leaf. I always do a water bath the day before making butter though. I highly recomend that to help with the taste.
