French Touch seeds

Baron Greenback

I've just started 5 K1 from French Touch seeds. I germinated 6, 5 came through with no problems and are looking healthy with first true leaves just appeared.
They are an uncrossed landrace from La Reunion - there seems to be a few strains, there's a Mangu Carotte, the Zamals and these. Flowering time could be a bit of a long one, 130 days plus :)
The service from Victor at French Touch was great, emails answered quickly and seeds nicely packaged.
If I can get over my paranoia, I'll try to work out how to post some pics (tbh though, the likelihood is I'll kill them, I seem to be the angel of death for seedlings at the moment).
Fingers crossed then eh?

Fantastic choice.
I'm part way through a tent of Zamaldelica from ace.
Needless to say I'm surely interested in reading about your results as these sound very exotic!
I applaud your patience!

Good luck getting them going.
I'm sure you will find many of us eager to see how these do.

Big ups respect and happy growing.

It was thanks to Ace and their fabulous genetics that my interest in landraces was kindled. I tend to put things like the K1's around the edges and use Ace as a main crop as I am guaranteed glorious weed from Ace.
I always used to read about strains - oooh, cup winner crossed with cup winner - that sounds great.
Then I realised poly hybrid pollen chucking with no testing was the way to weaken the gene pool irrevocably and now I'll only grow crosses that can be traced back to a landrace within one generation.
I hope these work :)

Be interesting to see, I have been massively impressed by Cannabiogen/Ace's work in stabilising and improving wild strains,to the point where until I am blessed with mucho spare growspace I don't think I would grow anything else .... But I am very happy to watch and see how you get on, especially compared to the Zamaldelic , a real Proper test.

Zamaldelica is a head splitter. I bet anything from La Reunion island is too dope.

I'm down to watch 130 day shit. I've gone 115 before but that's the longest I needed with a Thai...

Well, bollocks - now I'm going to have to keep them alive AND try to get pictures done. Please don't expect too much though, lately I have just been killing everything (it may well be damping off or the suchlike) but these do look very nice and green and strong.
@Cocosativas - after 115 days, you know them pretty well I'm guessing :) I'm just waiting for my longest ever to finish, she started flowering 1st September and is probably at least 3 weeks from finishing still - and because I am an incompetent stoner idiot, I have no idea what she is.
If anyone has any ideas - she'll definitely be from Ace, not Oldtimer's Haze nor Purple Haze (or crosses), Zamaldelica or Malawi - I did wonder whether she might be a really Thai pheno from some Golden Tiger?
They'll be going into coco coir, multiple feedings daily once they get big enough with Canna cogr nutrient and a bit of seaweed as a foliar.
So fingers well and truly crossed then :)

The cogr nutrient is meant to be used with the board in the system.

I'm digging the normal canna ab set... very simple and works very well. A little goes a long way.

I hope you have lots of experience with coco before trying cogr it looks more complicated by a long shot.

Yeah after 115 you know what's up

@Meadowman - I'm going to wait for a couple of weeks and then just give them quarter strength for a week.
Just ph'd water for the first weeks.

really looking forward to seeing these, Baron... but I must ask.. is it possible to have an "uncrossed landrace" on an island with other strains? surely there must be some kind of cross pollination going on?... anyway I hope you get something awesome from them :)

@jamieshoes - you are of course right :) I meant more the poly hybrid/pollen chucked type of crosses.
Teach me to try and be all smug and landrace-y :)

i´m right with you on this. for some vague notion some folks think it´s a bad thing to make selections and selective breeding. lot less agitation when you can count on that most if not all plants are good. now running few soa zamals and now have 1 in full flower, and i have to say i´m impressed of its quality.but can´t really say much from just 1 plant.

lol soz man, didnt mean to sound like I was taking the pee... was just curious to know how they'd achieved this... I dont think having some zamal added in will have any negative effects anyway :D

I've managed to get my grubby mitts onto some Double Zamal so they'll be going in later - this is all dubi's fault, him and his actual breeding, making me search for interesting landrace :)

It's an outrage. If I wasn't so busy being constantly blown away by the amazing quality and general gloriousness of his weed, I'd start a petition or something :)

Damn right man.

There's so many cool hybrids you could make with those genes. I'm not huge on indicas but they can unlock interesting flavour and effects. Everyone's so worried about the yield and speed I say they should forget sativas and grow indicas then... it would be neat to see what crossing to a old school skunk or a chem or og...

Or cheese. That would be funky as hell. Zamal x cheese would be very interesting flavour wise. Though if it came out to short or cheese dom my first thing I'd do is bx it to the Zamal.

This is all a theory thing. I'm high and should be going to bed but I'm bad for that lately not sleeping enough. Lol lately I've been interested in how some hybrids would come out crossing some old school to some new stuff, and some old classics too...

Sadly I haven't got the space for any sort of pollen chucking :) In the hands of someone who isn't an utter incompetent, they would be splendid.
I managed to find some really nice sounding landraces recently, got some Ciskei and something from Senegal and Zambia - now I just need to not kill them :)
