Freezing Seeds

W

Whatever

Freezing seeds for a few weeks can help with germination sometimes. I agree...don't thaw until you're ready to use em. Also I've been told not to store seeds long term in a frost free freezer.

I kept seeds (atomic NL) in the fridge in a film canister with silica gel for over 2 years and got 10/10 germ with 7 girls.....

How much humidity do you consider too much? That's not a challange, just a question.

I just measured my fridge at 43F and 19% relative humidity. 19% at 43F is a pretty dang small amount of water in the air. Granted, freezing temps can hardly hold any water at all. But how big a difference is there? Not so much quantitatively in terms of grams of water per kilos of air--I can calculate that--but in terms of what amount of humidity actually starts to effect seed longevity.

Depends on where at in the fridge you have them and what kind of fridge, but I have to agree with petey, cause I have kept them in fridge and freezer for nearly a year and both got the same germ rate 7/10 but only because it was bag seed I tried it on to see if it could be done, the ones that did not germ were a little underdeveloped to be sprouting.

I would have gotten perfect germination if it had not been for that.
