Freezerweed's 2024 landrace grow

Hello,
My original thread was under the "introduce yourself" But thought Landraces would be more appropriate.
I ended up dialing the light to 10/14 to stimulate the flowering in the Meao Thai. I will bring that back towards 12/12 soon after pollenating.

I either misidentified or shocked 3 Puntos that turned into males. There was also a male Resin Monster that I misidentified and pulled.
The main issue has been the Meao Thai needing extra attention due to the smaller grow spot. It brings back some of my frustrations from the 1980s when I grew it before under HPS.

The plants in containers are Congo Black x Jamaican Longtime backcrossed to Congo Black. Here is a male before putting a pollen bag on it.

Thanks for posting friend, I love your setup. Those plants look very interesting. I'm riding with you and looking forward to the ride. What kind of substrate are you using? Is that a large bed and it looks like you are in a tent? What kind of fertilizer and water do you use? What kind of light and how many watts? Looks really cool, you may have another 10 weeks to go.

like your grow op, your plants have the feet outside and the heads under the roof

Basic sand/ clay that is in my crawlspace, that I dug out 30 years ago and recently hung mylar. I used HPS until a few years ago. Using BESTVA 4000s now. I originally tried Frog Farm filled bags buried in the virgin crawlspace soil, but soon realized the extra plants That I planted directly did much better and had less problems with bugs. Landraces don't need much in nutrients and drainage was always a problem before. The root systems love not having any boundaries.
Some might finish in 10 weeks. There is one that started flower about 3 weeks before anything else. Started flower 9/1/24. The Punto Rojo and Meao Thai will probably finish February, but they tend to vary 2 to 3 weeks. The mother Punto lasted 27 weeks.

The entire grow room is 7ft by 6.5ft.

My remaining Punto Rojo turned hermie and I had to pull it. I hate to lose that much time into plants, but PR is worth it when everything works out. I have 10 baby PRs started again. They will be preflowered by the next grow. The Meao Thai is chugging along putting out new flowers and spreading to 30 in x 36in. It is mostly a uncontrolled bush now. I have buried a low branch to start rooting. I'll take clones at 12 weeks, (Dec1)
Overall, not having a frame to properly tie down to is a pain. (I tripped on it during veg). I have a new design with better plant access ready for the next grow.
The Punto Rojo FLT cross called the resin monster is fragile and has been taped on the breaks. It seems to be slightly less resinous than the PRJLT+PR crosses.
One of the PRJLT+PR crosses leans JLT slightly and has smaller trichomes but an impressive display of them. The other sister plant has much larger trichomes and takes after the mother Resin Monster plant.
There one PRJLT cross plant that flowered 3 weeks before the others could even show sex is loaded with seed from a male (Probably Resin Monster) luckily, I accidently pollenated other branches that flowered later.
Here are some photos I took yesterday.

PRJLT that started flowering 3 weeks early. Large buds though. Seeded by male resin monster.

So this grow is not going as planned, but with having so many plant phenos, I should have expected it. The Meao Thai is something I've wanted to recreate since the late 80s. It has been challenging to contain due to it's longer growth after identification and preflower, maybe, more so than Punto Rojo. I'll be able judge that better next grow in a side by side.

The PRJLT+PR is slowing down and will probably be done within 4 weeks. The trichomes are still mostly clear. The resin on this is amazing.

The sister plant leans more Jamaican Long Time and is slightly behind the PR leaning plant. Nice resin, but all of the trichomes are clear yet.

Here is a Congo Black x Jamican Long Time X Congo Black that seems to lean more Jamican in flowering time and structure. Hoping for giggle weed. CB can be extremely euphoric but that part of the effect only lasts for a short time. My cross here is attempting to lengthen the giggle effect. I will use this plant in my next grow cycle if it survives the regeneration. There are 2 clones that are struggling.

The Meao Thai project has been frustrating. It has a growth habit putting out new flowers, which spread out over the existing flowers. I am hoping a frame in my next grow of this plant will help. Current size is 3ft x 4ft. It was planted with 20 other seeds directly in the soil. This is the plant that leaned heavily towards the Meao. I started flowering 9/1, but not sure if the seedling stage light cycle being 13/11 affected it. Last time I grew one of these was in the mid 80s. The stem is already at 1.5 inches dia.

The Punto Rojo seedlings that I started, have all been fat leaf versions and will need to try again.
Okay, that is all for a few weeks. Figured I had better post now before I had 2 months of development.
