it had tons of nanners , so it was not early, im running a batch of the same gens now, and the buds are getten fat and no foxtails

i dont know what caused the foxtails last time . I suspected superthrive . as for the lights?? i read some speculation on the lights being too close and foxtails here on IC .... I still think it was too much superthrive in bloom

I don't think it was super thrive, I've use it from veg to finish with no foxtails 1 drop per gallon, there is some strains that naturally fox tale mostly sativas i think... but some are triggered by temps humidity lights ect.... i got blueberry plants fox tale beautiful but some also finished like arms round tops.... i seen cheese plants finish with foxtales and some not at different rooms temps humidity also.... I think cooler temps help your tops to be rounder and less fluffy or whatever.
anyways enjoy tails no matter what

Foxtails are like purpleness, they can be genetic OR environmental.

Some strains will only foxtail if you have too much heat or are too close to the light.

Some strains will foxtail no matter what, especially if you don't cut them early.

It seems like the the more sativery a strain is the more it will foxtail on it's own.

Haha i`ve never seen a thread about foxtails this is great.

Foxtails from what i read years ago are basically photo tropism of the calyxes. They certainly aren`t a bad thing in my experience and usually they indicate the plant getting enough or optimum amount of light. Obviously everything is a factor in this business since hte plant cant utilize the optimum amount of light if it doesnt have the right temps, nutes, etc.. So basically everyone is right, but Optimum light output is the factor here.

In my experience Basically a 1000w light should really be about 18in from the canopy from what most people will say. But if the light is cool enough you can drop it down to about 12 maybe 10in. See if those badboys don`t foxtail.

Still learning, I thought the closer the plants were to the the bulb the bigger the colas would be, as long as the temperature wasnt high.... can anyone clear that up for me?

The closer it is to the bulb the more lumens it will recieve. There is a point where it gets too close regardless of heat and it will start to bleach your plants for just the light being to powerfull you can say( i am speaking of 1000`s mainly). Light bleaching can start to damage fan leaves and this reduces the amount of photosynthesis you can make obviously cause you are killing fan leaves.

Closer is better but there is always a margin you dont want to go over, but i haver seen 600`s damn near sit ontop of a plant b4

The foxtails seemed like it was caused by too much N in flower to me. Only had it once and only added N in flower that late, that one time. Otherwise variables are all identical.
