FoxFarm Ocean Forrest Water Question

I have some 1 month old Nirvana Cali-O's using just FFOF soil out of the bag.
Using Tap Water with PH of 7.5 dont have ppm meter but wondering if it's fine to use or I need to bring it down some? For flowering I was planning on mixing the FFOF with perlite and maybe some light warrior or happy frog.
thanks.

Using tapwater of 7.5 to start, depending on how dirty your tapwater is a teaspoon or two of grow big for veg and a teaspoon of tiger bloom for flower will bring your nutrient ph within range more than likely, ferts always lower the waters PH.Its very important to use a tablespoon of dolomite lime per gallon soil mix also to keep ph stable during flower. Its time to start feeding your girl at least half strength veg fert if its been a month, ocean forest has goodies but is not ferted

I have 2 nirvana cali-o's that I have just about the same setup now.. They're in FFOF and happyfrog,, we balance our water to 6.0-6.5, and they're doin awesome!! Just go pick up a tetra water PH tester from the pet store, or some PH strips from walmart or anywhere.. both are very cheap and very helpful!!

I just started LST on them yesterday :) So far they've just gotten liquid karma.. Hopefully I see some results today.. once they settle from the transplant, we'll start our floro nutes on em :D

I'll be watching your progress if you post some pics, I'd love to see your girls!! :lurk:

at the very least get them strips but little more accurate is the hanna PH meter mine isnt waterproof. works like a charm cost 55$ and worth every $, drop your waters PH to 6.3-6.5 during veg and 6.0-6.3 during flower. if you drop your waters PH below 6.0 in soil you will have problems if you choose FF ferts make sure when you shake them you dont hear solids in the bottle. if you hear solids the bottle went bad the organic matter died alot of us who have been usen older and not so older FF nutes have experinced this problem. word up on that lol i add 2 tsp dolimite lime to each gal soil used even thought he bag says PH ballanced the dolimite lime helps keep it stable longer.i have nothing but good to say about FFOF soil it rocks and if stored properly after opening it lasts oh my current bag is about 2 months from being opened nooo mold. soil stays just like i opened it yesterday

Thanks for all the replies. i do have a PH Meter and some strips and I was bringing the PH down but I was told it didn't matter with this soil.
Will it hurt the plants if I start giving it 6.5 PH water all of a sudden?
ill be adding dolomite lime and perlite in flowering. im also going to give them about 5ml of some PBP grow soon. I dont have a decent cam so no pics though sorry.

You're too concerned about soil ph,why would that hurt your plants? You want your soil ph between 6 and 7,closer to six but its not that important. The best way to do this is to use a tablespoon of dolomite lime per gallon soil mix,you can balance you nute ph between 6 and 7 also

First, Nirvana Cali-O sucks balls - sorry bro, grown it out 3 times and never had good results.

Now, as for your FFOF question...

If you are using tap water, let it sit out for 1-2 days to dechlorinate, as the chlorine will beigin to kill off the benficial microbes anf funji in your soil. I use a 10gal rubbermaid container with 2 large airstones powered by a cheap pump to speed up the dechlorination process.

Unless your water is very hard (200ppm or more) do not worry about it. Your pH is a little more important. 7-7.5 is ok but in my expereince 6.5-7.0 is a little more beneficial. If you have a pH meter, monitor your runoff water and make sure that your soil isn't buffering the water alkaline, your runoff water should definately not be more than 7.5

If you don't already know, FFOF is strong. Do not use fertilizers until 3-4 weeks into veg. I usually allow my plants to get a N deficiency before feeding, just to make sure.

Ocean Forrest isn't that strong...it definately has some nutrition but I wouldn't call it strong. 3-4 weeks is about right with seeds...but you can start feeding clones a light dose right away.

I've seen and smoked fantastic buds from Nirvana Cali-O. Hopefully you will find a good one too :)

Mixing stuff with ocean forrest is kind of defeating the purpose don't you think? I mean you are paying top dollar for this pre mixed soil, why not let it be? I suppose I can understand adding perlite to lighten the mix a bit, but I think it works great right out of the bag. If you wan't to make your own mix start with a base that is cheaper like sunshine or pro mix...then you can add whatever you want and at a much lower cost. :)

Its only strong if you brew it wrong lol, ocean forest is a good nonferted soil I use grow big on my second or third watering after planting clones in ocean forest,I wait 2-3 weeks with seedplants. Why do people say the stuff is "hot" or strong?Ever burn a seeding with ocean forest and water lol?Its not strong, miracle grow with a npk is strong

well FFOF did burn my 3 week old seedlings when i gave them a little LK.
I like this soil though my roots stay very white and the plants new growth is pretty healthy. as far as the bud being garbage well hopefully the yield is good then

Hello all,

I use FFOF with EWC and perlite and D.lime- works well, 3-4 weeks but no longer.

I start with plain water and kelp and molasses in veg and transplant so that I have no plants in the same soil longer then a month. Just before flower I will transplant in the final 3 gallon container and wait about 10-12 days before I flip the lights.

I like to use a ewc/guano/dry mollasses/liquid kelp tea with either 22/l fish squeezins or EJ Bloom to bring down the pH and boost my teas.

Every watering in flowering is working excellent for me so far. Less is more in this case.

Cut the Ocean Forest with perlite or add some Light Warrior to it.

Ditch the tap water. Get distilled water. If you can't do that at least filter, aeriate and pH adjust that water! Light Warrior soil by Fox Farms was created because people like us thought Ocean Forest was too strong. Cali O was the first strain I grew. I made lots of mistakes and my yeild was dog shit. I know you will do better!
