FFOF is good all by itself. I like to add about 20% more perlite, 10% more worm castings and 2 tbs/gal powdered dolomite lime for the magnesium and calcium it provides.
As far as FF nutes, I believe the recommended dosages are printed on the labels on the sides of the bottles.

Hey if I were you I would look into Earth Juice Liquid Organic Nutrients, they are just as good as foxfarm... if not better. I've read that a lot of professional nurseries etc use it. They have feeding schedules on their website too, not for pot.. but for everything else.

I use Fox Farm O.F. mixed with Light warrior soil, I think it makes for a lighter mixture also the light warrior has benificial fungus in it that supposedly aids your plants in nutrient uptake.I also add about 30% more chunky perlite as well, Ocean forest by itself is kinda heavy. Fow Farm Big Bloom is great stuff , all organic, practically what made F.F. famous. The Tiger Bloom and Grow Big are organicbased but still contain salts, not bad stuff by any stretch, but not totally organic. As far as the supplements(open sesame, beastie and cha ching)these are completly inorganic salt compounds , I've used them and as with any salt based fertilizer they can cause problems, use them very sparingly.Since I started getting into organics ,I have discontinued using the Tiger bloom and grow big , and now use Big Bloom(fox farm),Bio bloom(bio bizz) and a "tea" recipe I learned right here in these forums, Seems to be working very well. As far as ammending O.F. soil is concerned , I would be careful , I've tried ammending O.F. ONCE, and it screwed my plants all up(had all kinds of nute lock out issues). Now I just use straight up soils , and the problem went away. Hope this helps bud. Peace. :joint:

I use FF OCean forest mixed with Light Warrior. The soil is hot enough that you don't have to feed your plants much in the veg cycle. The key thing is this: don't feed until your plants tell you they are hungry. The bat guano and fish emulsion in the soil will keep them happy for a while.
As far as the feeding schedule, don't follow it. You will burn the heck out of yoru plants. Go to http://foxfarmfertilizer.com/feedingfox.html for the posted schedule in pdf format. Start with 1/4 of what they recommend.

hope this helps
peace

yes flush. Hopefully, you have enough perlite mixed in. I tried to flush a couple plants and they suffered some drowning.

You can remove salts by flushing with fresh water, just make sure you flush really good(lots of run off). I'de go with 30-40% perlite , you want good drainage and to keep the soil "loose". Sounds like you got things going so good luck.

ok this is my first grow. and i did FF OF 75% perlite25%. im now 24days in flower after 42 days veg i didnt need nutes of any kind for 4 weeks and my plants were great the FFBig bloom is good stuff while tiger will lower your ph a bit. i did not like open sesame as when i added it everything went out of whack. i reccomend starting grow big after at least 3 weeks not too early as ocean forest is already fertilized. and rule of thumb start nutes at 1/4 strength as i had burn with very little increases remember under fert is easier to fix than flushing 15gals through your 5 gal pots. i also had issues with high ph so make sure you check runoff regularly and always test your ph before you add nutes to water and after.

Thanks for the replies & advice, mixed up my soil took 1 pot before planting dun a test run to see about drainage used 3/4 gl water and had a 1/2 qt run off. so i used 1/2gl and got a cup run off. poured soil out to ck if all got wet , no dry soil.mixed soil at 60%ffof,30%per,10verm,1tsp dolomite lime.put soil back in containers let set .water ph from well is 7.8,soil ph 6.4next day ck soil ph 6.4,poured water though soil run off 6.2.will use ferts at 1/4 dose after 3 wk.if sesame is that unstable will not use.At 42 days veg how tall were your plants FISTTIME.my plan is to veg to 24ins then start flowering.i have a low ceiling(7ft) so i think at the end of flowering they should be 3 1/2 to 4ft. i think!!!!!!!! sorry for the slow repliy i try to write down all advice you guys give for latter refrence. thanks fellas  :canabis: :respect: :jump:

mine were WW and they were about 22-24 inches at that point and stretched to 42-46 in the first 16 days of flower. so as long as your strain isnt pure sativa you shouldnt have any probs

PH Wizardry...

PH Wizardry...

Man,for a first time grower..you must be 'well read' on PH values.I fiddled around with all the ph monitors, tubes, test kits..ect.I think 'once' you get it right,''soil-mix'' wise, you'll never look at ph again.But....Each new fertalizer is unique unto itself...even different Lot.Numbers. I think if you ERR on the Low side you'll be fine.My motto was always to ''Throw the Book at Em in Bud Stage..Their racing toward death anyway''.My basic veg mix Looks like.3qrts.Black gold,2cups Perlite,2cupsEWC...and a bunch of other little goodies in small amounts.Out of the FF lINE-UP, Big Bloom just kicks Royal ass Period..It's a must have.Expensive thou..The other products that rock...Liquid Karma...No Brainer there.Really like Botanicare in general...''Sweet',not really worth the money. And the other simple but worthwhile endevor...Molasses,just remember to put it into a cup of warm h20 to dissolve before adding to regular water...1tbl/gal. Once you start needing additional ferts..I believe just about every ''Liquid Fert'' Schedule I have, reads 2tsp. as the max/per any one addative.I personally like to have 'Fert' waterings and ''Addative'' waterings.I consider addatives..Maxi-crop,Liquid karma,Molasses,Pro-tect,ect. Good Luck !!!

You just stroll on in to you're Fav.grocery store,go to the Baking Isle and purchase you're Molasses for a Measly 3dollars..it's available virtually anywhere. If you're using a good brand of pre-mix soil, you might wanna add some Earth worm castings, perlite, and Epsom salts. If you're really needing te nitty gritty..pm me, and I'll give you the exact recipe for success. The Hornby Big Bud is an Extremly powerful chemical fert..you will more than Likely ''Torch'' you're plants on the first application..The npk Numbers are off the Fuckin Chart..It's very similar to FF bEASTY and MoNSTER bLOOM.aS a side note...the same stuff can be had by a Canadian Company for a Fraction of the price over Hornby or FF.yOU WILL do well, just sticking with good old organic dirt an some low npk ferts and addatives.Go check out Mandala mikes Fertalizing wisely sticky,at their section of this site. It's very good info...one of the Canadian Magazines just put the whole thing up as a main article in a recent issue...Good Luck!!

ill be honest i bought the 6pack FF also and have had to really go super light on the chem stuff its tough to gauge... while on the other hand im very happy about the grow big and BB and tiger bloom much more forgiving just start at 1/4 to 1/2 strength and honestly FF isnt that expensive 12$ for the quarts the grow big and tiger bloom could do probably 50 plants while the BB is much quicker to go through.

Ok, so Im pretty handy at hydro, had some extra containers laying around, got a wild hair, and got a bag of Lite Warrior, Ocean Mix, and Sunshine LC1.
Now what do I do?lol, I see to add perlite, any sense in mixing all three or just keep FF and Sunshine seperate? Will CalMag and Sweet work in these mixes?(diluted of course). Is it basically the same time frame, give or take a week or two, as compared to your basic 90 day hydro indoor turnaround? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
