Ok today I was tending to the ladys and I noticed one of the leaf tips was curled back a little bit. I started to uncurl it and underneath was a little white sack that i squashed and threw off the plant then right next to it I noticed this green little spider. I didnt know what to do so I just left him, will he harm my plant(s) at all? Also any tips for keeping grasshoppers away? I saw one on my plant and they've been munching off little bites. Thanks

Spiders are good. You can make poison bait with dough balls for the grasshoppers. I am not sure what the recipe is...its here at icmag somewhere...anyone?

spidermites are the bad ones they are very small and youll notice hundreds of them. regular spiders can be good, but you dont want to many or youll have one buggy outdoor harvest. one little guy isnt going to do anything but rid you of a few other bugs.

I would see a nice size spider good in a way. They will scare off any other bugs and also eat them. Speaking of grasshoppers, I got them all over in the backyard. I've been spraying my plants with Neem every other day.

Still can't locate the dough ball bait insecticide recipe. I checked on the internet and found out that neem sprays don't work to repel grasshopper eating. If things got really bad, I would spray or dust my plants with some sevin insecticide. You would want to also treat the surrounding areas around the plants. You will definately only want to do this only maybe once and not close to flower and fall. It will take some time for the sevin to degrade into non-toxic substances. It is labeled for use on vegetables and tobacco. There is also a bait made with sevin you can buy. It is possible to make the sevin bait by mixing sevin liquid with cereal grains. I don't have the exact instructions for this. I have had plants completely eaten by grasshoppers!
