Found a few male flowers and some seeds, need advice!

My beautiful Purple Haze has popped a few nanners, I have had a really hard time finding them, but I spotted one just now. There's a bunch of seeds on the lower branches, but not an amount to make me think the problem is widespread. So my question at this point is should I chop it? I'm on day 54 of 12/12, and this strain is usually at least a 70 day strain. Is it worth risking pollen to finish her?

Oh and there were light cycle problems early in flower due to timer failure, so is it possible that the hermie behavior is due to that? I have a clone of her in the veg chamber that was taken before she went to flower. Do you think it will be safe to keep running this line or should I plant seeds and try for a new female?

Here is a picture of her from 4 days ago:

the timer could indeed have caused it, as well as any other stress. or it could just have a slight hermi tendancy.
i dont understand why you ask if you should chop it early? let it finish and mature, its hardly gonna get any worse is it..

oh and about the clone, well if it was the timer that caused it, it would be a shame for you to bin it. but if not, yer i guess it is a good idea to find a new mum. i say run it again and see. in the meantime start more and look for another one and if your low on seeds for it, look for a male too.

Thanks for the reply! I forgot to mention there are 3 other strains in the cab right now, and I am worried it will pollinate them :( Is it worth the risk of that? We chopped off a few lower buds and looked through them and there are definitely male flowers mixed in there. Very few relatively speaking, but they are there anyway. I'd say this is the strain I was most looking forward to, what a bummer :(

Yeah. Turns out it was a light leak that caused it though. I've put a temporary fix into place, but I'll need to work more on it later today. Apparently light from the veg side was bouncing through the ventilation system and reaching the flowering chamber, and hitting the Purple Haze worst of all. Gonna put some tubes on my exit vents. It will create a chimney effect for more updraft and should help stop the light. Man I really thought I had no leaks :(

So how about instead of chopping it, I move it to the other end of the house, seal it up somewhere, and put a few CFLs on a timer? I was thinking of maybe putting it on a 10/14 time cycle to finish it up faster. Will that be far enough away from our other plants? I'm guessing that's 45 feet or so, and many doors between.

I had the exact same thing happen to me my last grow... from light leak and other types of stresses..

Only the bottoms of the plant developed bananas and only the bottom developed seeds.. I let the strain go for a lil past 10 weeks flowering, and I dont think there is any need worrying about more of the plant getting pollinated..

As far as the 10/14.. I say its worth a try if you feel it necessary.. I rarely see people go less than 12/12 nowadays so I wouldnt mind seein some differences in finishing times if you do that.. and quality of course.

Thanks for the reply PiffGuru!

I found maybe 6 male flowers on the whole thing, but I may have missed some of the smaller, less developed ones. Got about a dozen or so seeds out of her so far, I think maybe that's all of them, but I will keep my eyes open. I don't think any of the others are seeded yet, but I will watch out for it even more now.

So my plan right now is to move it to the other end of the house, put it in a big cat cage which I will need to light-proof this evening. Then put a couple of 2 bulb 24" T8 shop lights(17W per bulb), and maybe a 28 or a 45W CFL depending on what I can scrounge up. So I'd have maybe 96W on this single plant. Then I'll drop the light cycle to 10/14 and try to speed finish her. It beats just culling her prematurely. She smokes okay now, but not any better than mid-grades, and I can really tell it's all head high.
