force flowering via root restriction?

Well I'll see what I have for pics that I can post...

Anytime I grow from seed I sex the plants in 6" pots, they are small and easy to handle and fit a lot in an area. I've weighed the pots and soil and know exactly what weight to water and I leave em in the 6" pots until they show sex under 24 hours of light.

I have 4 Orange Kush that were started about May 10, in 6" under 24hr light now being sexed by root restriction. So far 1 is showing fem, 2 not showing and 1 that I'm not quite sure of yet because my good magnifier got busted so I have to wait an extra couple of days.

It does slightly slow growth rate, but if you calculate the time, room, soil, etc... that it takes to sex em under 12/12 and then back to veg, it is actually faster and I think causes less stress to the plants.
I'll see if I can get some pics of these Orange Kush to post. The one that is showing is, well, broken over, stripped naked and tied down like a $20 New Orleans whore. So I doubt she would be of much benefit for display, well unless yer into that sort of thing. But she showed her sex and is now being trained as a new mommy.

Google it tho, there is a ton of info about root restriction to induce AND inhibit flowering of not only cannabis but many species of plants.

Abstract

Starfruit (Averrhoa carambola L., Clone B17) plants were grown in two levels of root zone volume (3.36 m3 or 0.68 m3) and two levels of water availability (well watered or 30% of field capacity). Root restriction inhibited the growth of starfruit plants as indicated by the reduction in leaf and root growth, and to a greater extent under water stress conditions. Under well-watered conditions, root growth restriction resulted in a slight reduction in leaf water potential. Regardless of watering regimes, root growth restriction causes an increase in leaf diffusive resistance, which consequently contributes to the reduction in leaf photosynthetic rate. The beneficial effect of root growth restriction in plants grown under well watered conditions is to hasten flower initiation.

IME you are never going to get a plant to "flower" by restricting the root space without altering the light cycle unless it is a auto-flowering strain, but you might be able to get it to pre-flower faster. I always leave seed plants in 16oz cups until they show sex. It typically takes 3-4 weeks from sprout. It might slow them down a little to keep them in the cups, but not much. I typically wouldn't be transplanting before 3-4 weeks anyway.

All of the following are examples of sativas or sativa dominant hybrids that showed sex at 3-4 weeks. All but one was sexed when the pictures where taken.
