Foliar feeding question

Hello everyone, been lurking around for a while now, lots of great info here on the icmag forums!! I searched but i couldn't find a straight answer. I was just wondering if i could do foliar feedings only. I live in the caribbean and with the heavy rainfall almost daily, the soil doesnt get a chance to dry up fast enough and nutes just get washed away. if so, what would be a good schedule? Weekly/Daily? Recommended doses or foliars require less PPM counts? Any help would be appreciated!! :thank you:

I was just wondering that the other day.

I believe some nutrients don't leach that easily so in your situation you could definitely amend your soil. If none of the soil experts pop in here, you may want to ask this on the Organic Soil subforum, maybe reframing the question towards what you could possibly add that won't leach out, and then foliar the rest.

Never heard of only foliar feedings. I have never been to the caribbean, But I assume some plants must grow there naturally.
So there must be something in the soil. You can fine tune with regular Foliar feeds.
I would think a timed release fertilizer would also feed the soil over the season.
If you have constant rains daily, getting air to the roots would be your main concern as well as a solid mold resistant strains.

Fluff up your soil, there are many things to add to allow more oxygen to the roots.
Best of luck and may all your Buds be Huge.

Peace GG

Thanks for your input guys!! Im growing in a different area on the island now that im used to, so im learning to deal with this new environment. Its the rainy season right now, so yeah, we get rain almost everyday. Lots on sunshine in the AM and strong showers for about an hour or two in the afternoon, very humid. No problems with mold or fungus so far, i keep a weekly preventative schedule for pests/mold/fungus and i think i got that part down so far. Im going to switch to smart pots for the next grow and see if that helps and i might put a few in the ground and see if they like it, we do have very rich soil, im just a bit worried about the ground always being wet. I fabbed up a removable "lid" for each of the smart pots to keep them from getting drenched with rain water. Along with that im going to try a different soil mix also, so maybe itll work out fine this time around, now im just curious if anyone fed their nutes with foliars only, bc i think i read somewhere that you actually save up on nutrients since you dont have to use as much for foliars, along with a few other pros to it..

Hey man. I am in the same situation as you.
I was suffering terribly using local rich soil in pots so I swapped to 75% perlite 25% vermiculite. Problem solved.
I dropped my water, nutrient ph to 5.8 and the response has been very positive.

I have found the soil here to be good in the ground but terrible in pots. If you must use pots change to a free draining medium like I did, or put them in the ground.
