Foliar Feeding Causing Pistil Prematuration?

Ganja-Guru

Member
4 plants, 2 foliar feed with tiger bloom...the two that were feed are showing 90% complete maturation in pistils yet the buds have a LOOOOOONG way to go still.

ANY THOUGHTS? Perhaps the strength of my foliar solution was too high?

Before

Same bud today

Perhaps Im just freaking out. I think I have a memory of my buds constantly growing new pistils as the older ones died off.

ANY thoughts?!

Ok here are my thoughts on foilar feeding....i dont do it at all i see no point in doin it as long as u give them what they need thru soil/hydro. And if i were to foilar feed it would be only during veg.
Now when my MJ plants are in flowering when the young buds look like the top picture you have i try and keep any and all contact from them...because it seems like if i even brush it with my shirt or touch them on accident with my hand the pistils will mature and then new ones will have to grow around them and it seems like i loose production.
Its like the plant thinks it got pollinated so the pistils start to mature and try and make a seed with the pollen it thought it recieved by brushing up against it or like what u did foliar feed ur young buds...i would say if you are goin to foilar feed only do it during veg.
Now which sucks balls when this happens is the plant trys to produce seeds it has no pollen to do so, and this is a "theory" i think but i have heard many differnt places that when a plant goes thru the phase of tryin/producin seeds ull loose overall production of ur harvest and loose potency/crystal production also....

Mmm hmm, well there is one thing to be said for my particular feeding. Before the feeding there were vitually no formation of Trichs and now the leaves and buds seem to have a whole lot for this stage of flowering. Anymore thoughts? I am noticing this morning that although the pistils are seeming to be all browning, there is alot of real calyx swell and vegitative bud development begining to occur. So perhaps time will tell. NE ONE?

that is exactly what happened... you need to dillute your solution with which you foliar feed... I have burnt plenty of pistils this way. as well as spraying home-made organic recipes for plague and disease control...

a good rule is always to start with half the recommended dose (of whatever you are to spray or pour on soil) and see how the plants react.

your plants will keep on maturing so it is all good, they are just a bit burnt.

who knows. i dont foliar feed and one of my plants has all the pistils on it turn orange. from top to bottom this happened like the 2nd,3rd week of flowering. but since you say it only happens when you foliar feed thats most likely your problem. like the other guy up there stated you want to not foliar feed your plants in flower unless you have a serious need to. water + flowering usually = mold which usually = trashed crop. those plant look fine i dont know why you feel the need to foliar feed but my suggestion is unless you have a deficiency you shouldn't be foliar feeding.

I've seen it happen with Dutch Master's Penetrator foliar feed product......

it was in an aeroponic environment, so the flowers quickly grew past the burnt-out canopy......hopefully the same will apply to your situation.....

Ive noticed a similar increase in trich production after a nice rain. Could be my imagination though :joint:

Glad to have found this helpful short thread, because this just happened to me yesterday. Lots of outdoor buds with 3 or 4 weeks to go, and I sprayed them all with Penetrator and Folitech Flower according to Dutch Master directions. Now the stigmas are all browned. I'm expecting and hoping they will continue to grow new pistils and stigmas, because buds could stand to get a lot bigger.

Keep in mind that when you spray in flowering the stages they will soon be in you risk the start of bud root, it won't happen right away, but it will happen soon..... if you keep spraying them.

Your mixture may also be a wrong pH and the leaves pistils don't like it and may die from it, you should not have any pistils at this point in flowering turn brown just yet.... tiger bloom is acidic if I remember correctly, are you letting it sit overnight after adding it to the water?

Like dontbanme said, stop foliar feeding.

finally a good post that got an answer to my problem.
i had white mold on my plants so i foliar feed them with an alcaline solution that stops white mold infection but it burnt almost all my pistils and i am in the fourth week of flowering, hope they will start growing again with new pistils.
