Fogger/Mister Amp Draw

Hello all. been reading gettogro's fabulous thread and he mentioned one of these or something like it:
dk6.jpg

Item: DK6-24
Input: 120V/24VAC
High output 6 jet Ocean Mist Maker with indoor/outdoor transformer, 33' long cord between transformer and fogger.
Fogger size 10"(L) x 2.5"(W) x 2"(H).
Fogger housing: Stainless Steel
Discs: 20mm discs

So i got it and it works great. however i'm concerned about the amp draw and don't have killowatt meter or a clamp on amp meter to measure the true amp draw. The transformer says output is 24vdc 8.1 amps. holy shit i say! thas alota electricity. however, the fuse in the transformer is only a 3 amp. i'm hoping that the transformer specs are what's it's potential is, and not what it is truly drawing. otherwise it would blow the fuse yeah? anybody else have any experience/knowledge info on these? the company has one that has an Input: 230V/24V AC (for European country), which is i'm presuming is also 50hz instead of 60. i wanna get that one as it will draw half the amp's. i got the 230/240 (i think i measured the outlet at 229vac or so) but i'm concerned about the frequency. not sure if the transformer or the disc unit would like 60hz. help?

cut off the plug from the european trnsformer and soldered on an american 220 plug. works like a champ for half the amp draw!

You were only pulling 1.6A with 120. Now your pulling 0.8A. the 8 amps was at 24v post-transformer...you would convert to watts consumed, then convert to amps using the input voltage. 8A x 24v = 192 watts 192/120 = 1.6A. Probably will pull a little more due to losses in the transformer etc.
