flying from med state to non-med state with personal amounts

Does anyone have any experience here? Can the police in the legal states' airport arrest for intent to distribute if I'm attempting to fly out of state? Or is the non-medical state my only worry?

I don't have a med card anymore (expired) but I am legal in Colorado.

I plan on carrying an ounce or perhaps much less which is legal in the state of Colorado for all purposes. At this point I'll get the shakes if I go my entire vacation without some meds.

Don't be a dumbass about it and you'll probably be fine.

On the SFO website it says that TSA may or may not call SFPD, but also SFPD states if it's under an oz they'll let it slide with proper paperwork...also other bay area airports follow the same protocol. I've had many friends fly out of bay area and Sacramento airports with herbs to other med states as well as non-med states...

You step out of your med state, and it's into nazi germany.
Mail it ahead to where you are going.
If you get caught in a non med state, then that states laws will apply.
That's what I think will happen anyway, not an expert on the matter.

Thanks guys. I have no desire to mail it. For one I don't want anyone else involved in potential legal issues. Second because I feel my odds of getting popped go up tremendously. Every major delivery hub has drug dogs pop in all the time. I know this first hand as a former FEDEX employee. You're playing a numbers game and the odds aren't great.

I don't care how much my friends tell me that you can get on a plane with bud if you are a patient / card holder. I still would never recommend getting on an airplane with personal bud.

The way I look at it, the TSA is a federal agency. Federally, marijuana is still a class 1 controlled substance. If you're flying from one state to another then you've just stepped squarely into the commerce clause interpretation of the 10th Amendment too.

I would just vac seal it and put it in ur underwear... as u approach security see if they are using xray lanes or the body scanners.. if they are using scanners turn around, go to the restroom and toss it.. thats what id do anyway..
also, ur carry on bag.. as long as it contains NO liquids or gels and i mean none.. no toothpaste, shampoo, etc... is unlikely to get much scrutiny... smuggling is a gamble.. and alot depends on what you look like, how you are dressed etc...
THere isnt any perfect way, they all require some level of exposure.. mail, checked bag, prison pocket, carry on bag, underwear... lotsa ways and with a small amount, a clean cut white guy who isnt acting all sketchy has pretty good odds... but its never SAFE..

and to finally answer the OP's question... yes, it would be illegal for you to board a plane in co with herb to arrive anywhere..(since u no longer have a valid med card).. but fuck it.. id do it.. i like the rush..

transporting across state lines is federal so the laws in your mmj state and at your destination doesnt matter.

i quit carrying on a plane after 911 but do what you feel comfortable with.

My buddy called the airline, the airport, and TSA. He asked if he could bring his
meds on the plane with him. All 3 gave him the ok. Bay area to NYC.
He's traveled twice now with 1/2 an elbow.

p.s. it's going for $10 for .25g in the city.

if so then its a step forward but i would make sure no trafficking laws are violated.

Just carry it on. I fly about 30 weeks out of the year and the only time I saw a dog in an airport was when somebody left their bag unattended for too long. DO NOT check it. You dont know if they are running a dog around in the back. At least in the terminal you can keep your eyes open to walk the other way or duck into a bar or bathroom if you see a dog walking around. Oh, and dont carry it around in plastic bags. Put it in a sealable container made of glass, a medical container that actually seals, or put it in a plastic bag and then wrap that inside mylar. The terpene molecules(what gives pot its smell) are too big to pass through mylar but they pass through plastic bags almost like its not even there. Learned this one the hard way when I opened my bag in an airport and realized that I could smell something funny with my nose 3 feet away from my bag. Oops.

Oh and as others have mentioned, if you get caught in that other state it doesnt matter if you have a medical card from another state. You are still subject to the laws in that state.

And I will add that TSA employees are NOT federal officers. They are deputized AGENTS of the federal government that work for private contractors. Its a security theater scam to make you feel safe. They are glorified mall cops with a bit more extra power. They make people think they are safe while a select few people get rich on the federal contracts. If they catch you they dont turn you over to the federal government, they turn you over to the local police. So within California, no problem. California to washington or Colorado or any other state that has decriminalized, no problem. California to Texas... you get caught... you arent going back to California any time soon.
