fluorex light ,screwing up my stereo

I made a hood for my oldlady to use a Fluorex 65 watt cfl,for her cactus plants( yes cactus),I have a onkyo stereo,that has a remote freq reciever that you can move around the house, you can run the stereo from anywhere using the remote control aimed at the RF reciever.

If you get the RF reciever withen 8 feet of the cfl,it lights up the LED ,meaning its picking up a signal, I havent turned on the stereo to see what its trying to do.

Isnt this abit weird, and with the right device you could probly "read" my house and know am using that cfl, am not worried about anything except the stereo,and just thinking its odd.

Well, every CFL contains an electronic ballast, which generates magnetic waves during it's work. Your system mistakes these waves for the carrier signal. I don't think anything bad can happen to it due to this.

the ballast on this set up is remote , bring the RF reciever near the light,not the ballast is what is causing the problems, like i said I just think its odd, thanks student grower

I read somewhere about the digital ballast that the radio frequency interferance is emited from the bulb itself because the ballast and cord are shielded it won't emerge from them. The bulb is only covered in glass and not shielded.

On another forum there was a big discussion about security risks with this because using a digital ballast's interference can be traced by someone (LEO) if it goes a great distance because the bulb is elevated.

My fluorex is a strange thing, it will turn off whenever I turn anything on electrical, which I'm sure is because there is no ground.

Ive "heard" that the wire core HID fixtures send a pulse back through the electricial wires,to the main lines also,they could possibly tell from that that,if your using HIDS.

my ground wire isnt connected yet to the hood of my light fixture,but theres one there,I also have the ballast for my fluorex in a plastic electricial box,other than the rf signal doing odd things,thats my only problem. Have you tried differant outlets for your fluorex, and am assuming you disconnected the light sensor (dawn to dusk) from yours
