Flowering lights on hours

I just heard that it is commong to leave the lights on for 16 hours during indoor flowering and was wondering if this was an accurate statement? I have always used 12 hours and have had great results. is there a benefit to using 16 hours instead of 12?

Maybe for an auto-flower strain, but not for your standard breed cannabis. More dark than light is the only way for the flowering to happen.

IDK about veging on 16/8 or flowering on 16 hours of light(like, maybe you could do it 16/16?)

I do know this: The standard light cycles for veg growth are 24/0 or 18/6, and the standard cycle for flowering is 12/12, with a small contigent of people using 11/13 or other slight variations.

12/12 is Flowering For Dummies™, a one size fits all solution. Very few strains require 12 hours of dark however even fewer, if any, can resist flowering with 12.

tell me more!!! I would love to hear of this varied flowering times, have read threads about this with no real hard evidence. I use 12/12 because I know it works but have always wonderd if more sun could mean more buds!!!

Ya, the only ones getting 18/6 during flower are autos...all others will herm or go back to veg at 16 hrs so that is definitely bad info.

Personally I use 11-1/2 Hrs for flowering. You cannot do more than 12/12 and not less than 10/14 as these plants wont trigger to flower until the days get to 12 hrs of light or less!
Never heard of using 16 as that would cause plants to revert back to veg stage, so don't do it you will screw up your whole crop!!

Good Luck!

Wish I could but, I'm a dummy through and through. My outdoor plants would be in full bloom long before 12 hours of dark because the "day" period was getting shorter and shorter and shorter. That kind of precision by hand would be nearly impossible and horribly time consuming. 12/12 causes flowers every time. Like Venting For Dummies™ (intake is double the exhaust) it's the easiest, math free, never fails solution.

I put my clones straight onto 12/12 light regime in a SOG. No veg time.

I keep my mums and clones under a 18/6 light regime.

I don't want the mums to flower.

12/12 and 18/6 are a tried and tested set of light regimes for flower and veg.
