Hi, posted this in the OG forum but with no reply. It seems that they only want to talk about busts and conspiracies :rolleyes: . Anyway, got a question for you guys-

Alright, so I had originally planned on vegging my plants out for about a month before flower, but due to some new cirumstances that just came up, i'm going to be moving in a couple months, meaning I don't have enough time. Basically, I have right around 2 months as of now before I need to wrap the grow up. The plants are only in the seedling stage right now. Have probably been growing for a week and a half.

The strain is White Widow X Big Bud and it says it has a flowering time of about 7-8 weeks.

Basically what I'm asking is if I can throw them into flower in about a week and will I still get decent results? I mean obviously i'm going to get a decreased yield, but will the nuggets still be decent? Are the plants going to be mature enough to handle the flowering stage?

Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry Bro. Plants need at least a month to become sexually mature. If these were clones, you could have a decent grow with no veg time. If you put those seedings into flower now, they will just continue to veg with only 12 hours light a day.

i may be wrong but i read a bit abou tit on OG they will go into flower even before they are sexually mature they will grow toa bout 24 incxhes i think or i may be rambling but im pratyy sure im correct

If i were you i'd do this:

grow them out long enough to take clones and put the cuttings in refrigderator stasis.

give them about 2-3 weeks and put them into flower.

Harvest when you are forced to, a premature harvest is better than no harvest right? what have you got to loose?

you can flower from seed if you want just throw them into flower now they will still get to 2 or 3 feets tall. Yield is not bad at all as long as you got a good light i just vegged my last girls for only 3 weeks before budding and they still got to about 4 feet when they were not more than a foot tall before the 12/12 switch. Good Luck

Switch them to 12/12 and see what you get, but I have no idea if the bud will be decent. Update when you harvest.

well. he said he dont have much time because hes going to be moving soon. if you switch to 12/12 straight from sprout .. itll still take around 3-4 weeks for the plant to be mature enough to show sex. your yield will be poor but from what ive seen potency will NOt be affected. i read a bit about 12/12ing straight from seed and it seems that you can get some decent yields with 12/12 from seed in a sog setup.

Alright, first of all thanks a lot to everyone that replied. I've decided to give them another week and then throw them into flower and see what happens.

Yeah, i've been thinking of it as kind of a SOG grow, but most SOGs are taken straight from clone, not from seed.

Either way, from my understanding prior to this thread I thought I would just end up with decreased yield, smaller plants, but still nice bud and it seems that many of you agree as well.

I'll keep you all updated as always if anyone wishes to see how things turn out.

so wait, if you force sex your bitches before the preflowering stage....... it will fuck up your yields? ......... so how then does one go about determining males and females without wasting the light leading up to the preflower period? ........ cant you just throw in to 12/12 for a week if they are like 2 weeks old, determine sex, then throw back into veg? or will this do one of two things: A. effect the male to female ratio, or B. Cut back on yields significantly?...... how long should one wait before determining sex, even if they plan on re-vegging, how old do they have to be to find and take out the males...... a month?

It takes 90 days for a 60 day flowering plant

BUT..it takes 30 days for sex

I have smoked a 45 day haze once...30 days veg and 15 days flowering..I got high sure,,,its a haze!

But If I were you I would think about setting up AFTER you move... 60 days does'nt cut it if you just started seeds now...takes 30 days for sex to show...then 60 days flowering ,,unless you want a 30 day flowering bud..which is fine but it takes 5 days to dry

Another thing is... you can grow out the bush with 40 day veg (you move in 60days) but will prolly show sex if you hit the lights at 12/12 is that you take clones..take lots of clones then put them in a box safe and wet till you get to your new home and set up the clones...you'll have to throw the mother away cuz she may be too big

Alright, well here's the thing. I'm being a little short on the numbers, because I would rather over prep then under prep, you know? Exact time to move is in the range of about 74-84 days from now and the plants again have probably been going for nearly two weeks now.

I'm not worried about drying because im moving pretty close by, so I could set up a portable drier just to bring the nugs over. Also, these are feminized seeds so I don't need to determine sex.

I'm thinking now I could let them veg until the end of the month, right around may 1st, ill chop them, set them up in the drier and be on my way.

Does that sound good? Would love to arrive at my new place with a good amount of smoke.... mmmmm

Tbc, shit happens, just cuz u got femisized seeds doesn't mean u'll get 100% females.About the whole flowering issue....some plants are mature enough to flower sooner then others. I have a few White rhinos going right now and they started to show preflowers at day 23...alot of people say that plants are mature enough for flowering when they show preflowers or there nodes alternate. If i was in your situation i would give them another week like u said..maybe a week and a half, then just flower the little gals...i would try to keep at least 1 or 2 outta flower tho....so when u get into your new place you'll have a mom or 2 to take clones from. The yield will be less then if u vegged them longer...but the quality of the buddage will be fine, it'll still get you high mang!Not to mention u are growing a strain that has Big bud in it, so that can only help the yield potential! good luck! -Opt

Yeah thanks man, yeah I know fem seeds are not 100%. To be honest I don't like fem seeds because I feel like they arent really as natural, but whatever, they were freebies so I might as well make the best of them.

Well thanks a lot everyone, got some really good advice here. I guess we'll see how it goes.

actually.. i think the thread i read was by atmosphere1 on og.. and he ended up with almost 1g/watt with 12/12 from seed under a 400w hps..

Why cant you pack up plants and box, move to the "close by" location, set up real quick, then finish moving, fuck rushing some good seeds

Because i'm not sure of the security and all of the new location or even if there is an ok location to grow. Also, i'm moving in with a new roomate and I don't know exactly how nosey he would be in terms of a grow.

Basically, im not planning on growing indoors at my new location, i'm just planning to finish this one up and then go outdoors for a while or at least figure out if I can plan something for my new spot.

I think I'll be ok, even if the plants are a little premature, still should have enough time for some decent smoke.

My prediction is that they will flower normally and you'll just get smaller buds.

I planted a skunk#1 seed in a flower pot outside at the end of august one year and had a cute little purple nug at the end of october. It was about the size of a quarter (25 cents). You're using stronger light and longer exposures so you should be able to pull off some buds. Probably not much though.
