flourscent lights with hps

hey i was wondering if i took the flourescent light i used before switching to hps and sat it up on the side of my wall to where it hits the flowers that arent really getting much direct light, would this hurt my plant at all?

No, it won't hurt anything, but if you don't have the floros within inches of the plant, it isn't going to do anything but waste electricity.

imo its not completely a waste, if u have very poor light penetration you would be amazed how even a little extra light boost will help those tiny little popcorn buds swell, and grow...

most people dont bother, but to me its very importent cuz i use those bottom buds to make some great bubble hash!

Funny you should ask, I just spent the day rearranging my lights. I do this almost every three weeks, and the last two times have been to add more sidelights.
My test room got 864 watts on the side (T5 Quantum 6500K) with 800 watts CMH on top. The 864 on the side wasn't much better than the previous 432 watts so I called 1/3 an optimum ratio and put 1248 watts sidelighting in the main budroom. Putting out cash and expecting a return on it.
Mostly the lights run about 6" from the tips, some lights are horizontal, some are vertical (indica & sativa), T8's are 24" x 48", vertical by the sativa, T5's are 13" x 48", horizontal by the indica, both starting low and going straight up, not necessarily all the way to the top, but definitely starting at the bottom branches.
That is what worked in the testing. The primary bud stayed pretty much the same but the secondary buds gained 20% to 30% depending on location in the tray.
Yes, that was the test room with the 50/50 split top and side. A lot of variables but sidelights can make a large difference if done correctly. Even poor ones will make enough difference to see.
Test plant was sativa, tall and lanky.
