Flouro took a dump on me

I have a 24" x 12" fluoro hood. T-5 PLL-55W. Two bulbs, each bulb really looks like two bulbs.

Was operating fine. I unplugged to connect a timer and the light just stopped working. Both bulbs. No noise, no smoke, Just stopped then and there.

Tried many outlets so I'm suspecting it's the ballast. I could replace both bulbs and double check, but I'm sure thhe bulbs are fine.

Sound like the ballast? Not sure it's worth repairing.

It does kinda sound like the ballast but, having emergency backup lamps on hand is never a bad thing. I'd start with new lamps just to be sure.

Hard to get two of these PL-L's to go at the same time, I'd definitely look to the ballast. Magnetic or electronic? Does it still get hot when there aren't any lights connected to it and it's plugged in?

THanks FB. Appreciate the thought. I had a spare hood / light set. So I quickly rotated it in.

Frankly I wish I had a blue Hort that would fit in my 600w HPS socket. Nothing available. So I have the flouros.

Hydro-S. Thanks also. I can check the heat issue. If it heats up when plugged with no light produced, is that a clue?

Is this worth the cost to replace? Like, is a ballast a $30 part in a $40 light set?

Thanks
