going to be sexing as well as growing around 20 seedlings for about 4 weeks before putting out into green house.. i currently have a 75 watt 24" flouroscent tube light, is that enuff light for 20 seedlings? or should i get another 75 watt tube? also how close should i place the light to the seedlings forthe first few weeks? i was thinking like withing like 4 or 5 inches at all times depending on how tall the plants get??

You might possibly be able to get by with that, but I doubt it. If they do make it, they're going to be pretty weak.

I'd definitely look into at least doubling that. Or you could put that light int he middle and make up for it with some cheap 23 to 27w screw in cfls to fill in the areas with less light.

It really depends on your area, containers and budget. Personally, if I had an extra $100, I would wire up a 220w PL-L array (check my sig) and use the 4100K or 4300K lamps in it. This would make sure they were stout, fat, healthy seedlings after a month. :)

hmmm yeah, i was trying to save a bit of money from the 28$ T5 floros at an actual local grow shop, so i went to walmart and got the "grow lite" for 10$, but it looks like there is quite the diff. so it looks like ill b buying the T5 from grow shop and applying the one from walmart with it to sex and veg possibly....

It's tough to break out of the 'Instant reward' mindset that society raises you with these days. Try to consider the possibility. :)

Look at this from the mindset that you're going to be doing this for a while. Don't skimp, plan as much as you can, read as much as you can and only start when you're 110% sure you're ready. That way you'll only make about 30% of the bone-head blunders that new growers make. :)

Read more, save more and buy quality equipment, any time you can. You'll thank yourself in the long run. ;)

Alrite I just got it set up, two T5s and one T8 (which i guess is the walmart one) , should be good considering of the 20 seeds ill be sexing them , losing sum to males, and then snapping the weak females, hoping to end up with 6-8 good fems. Oh and applying sum reflective sheeting on walls of closet to use all the available light.

wow its amazing, considering i thought like 5 days ago that one t8 light might be sufficient for a small veg sesh, yesterday purchasing two additional t5 lites, and tonite learning that not only would that not be enuff but i have to go and buy two more additional t5 lites, i love this site!

Yes and it is only the beginning! You have many more wallet beatings in your future, not a cheap hobby. T5's are a good investment for veg so money well spent.

yeahhh, this will be my second grow, but i love it, so fulfilling. this will be my first 'legit' grow tho, so excited to do sum experimenting in topping, mixing soil mediums, and different kinds of nutes. any experience with floranova bloom?

That's what it's all about, try it for yourself and be the judge. Eventually you will find method that you like the best. I haven't tried floranova, I hear mixed reviews, but knowing the company I am sure they are quality nutes. I use GH 3 part for everything because they are very stable with excellent growth results. I also use the GH 3 part for soil (reduced amount) with great success. I am sure there are better nutes and growers that have mastered them but every time I play with my nutes and try to increase growth, It causes me much more time and trouble to wind up with the same or less yield.
