Flora Micro Hardwater?

Hello, my tapwater is around 400 ppm. I have some plants in dirt, due to not being able to afford new Reverse Osmosis filters for my hydro system.

The plants are nearly three weeks into bloom not a single yellow leaf yet, with barely any fertilizer used to this point and my question is...

Can someone explain General Hydroponics "Flora Micro Hardwater" nutrient to me?

How to use it, if it works and if anything else would be needed in bloom, or should I just use something else, since they are in dirt?

Thankya much for any input

First of all it would help to know your Cal/Mag levels in your tap water first. I assume you are on well water? You'll need to test it.

GH Hardwater Micro has reduced levels of Cal/Mag since it's harmful in high amounts. That's it.

I used it on my last crop because my water is hard. I knew my wells Cal/Mag levels so used this to figure out my levels...

It ended up that my levels we not just still high but the balance was way off too. It would have been better for me to use the normal Flora Micro at half strength and add some supplemental N since most of your N comes from the Micro.

I did start running into issues at 3.5 weeks of bloom. First hairs turned brown then some hermies started. At 6 weeks I got some unusual yellowing and at 7 weeks I started to get leaf burn. A combination of toxicity and deficiencies due to lock out.

If you can bring water in from a better source you would be better off. 400 ppm is pretty high. Even if you can only blend it you are better off.

Thanks alot for your reply Northern Farmer. I am on city water, and I am scared to fertilize because I have burned up two crops already with my terrible water.

City water hard?

That's strange...at least up here in BC it is.

Are you sure you are not reading your chlorine?

My city water is 7.8 in ph and about 250 ppm with noticeable calcium buildup in the dishwasher and bathtub.
