flip-box hot-flip. Advice?

Hey guys,

Quick question. I will be using (4) 1000w HPS lights with Solis-Tek ballasts. I would like to have (2) flower rooms each utilizing (2) of the (4) 1000w lights. I'd prefer that as soon as one room turns off the second room immediately turns on. How would I do this? Should I just use timers that are in complete sync (I will be using a Growtronix or iPonic 600 controller so the timer may be built-in) or use a flip box and hot flip? I do not mind replacing contactors every year or two; I would rather not have a red flag raised at the power company for consistent on/off times (I know, I'm a bit paranoid).

Thank you all in advance.

BTW, I'm brand new to indoor growing (outdoor veteran).

A flip box will allow you to utilize 4 lamps with only 2 ballasts. Using timers alone will still require you to power on each ballast which will give a distinct signature for power usage. A flip box allows the ballast to stay powered on, but will redirect the electricity to a different lamp. Your energy usage will stay more constant without any amperage spikes from starting a cold ballast.

You aren't paranoid, you are cautious. Besides the odor itself, electricity usage is the biggest red flag that police look for.
