I recommend a brush and fairly thick paint. I tried spray paint...too thin.... have to do it serveral times....and the mist goes everywhere.

If you know what you are doing, and it is a large enough area, and you have the proper equipment, spray would be the way to go.

But since you are asking the question, my guess is that one or more of those criteria are not met, so brush or roll it.

I've used both, and I have to agree with the others. Rattle cans are your enemy, especially if you're without a nice wind and breathing protection. Micro-fine paint particles wreak havoc on the sinuses.

Though, a roller does a much nicer job, in my opinion, than a brush.

I paint on the side and have found several thin coats work better than a single thick one imo. As long as you let the first coat dry completely the second one almost always does the trick. A cleaning rag seems to work better on thin coats. I have to repaint on occasion and try to keep paint blobs from growing every time I paint. I guess I'm pretty anal about my paint jobs lol.

Yes, multiple thin coats are the way to proper coverage. And if the space you are painting is at all large, use a roller, not a brush (you still will use a brush to cut in, but use a roller for the majority of the job).

I wouldn't use the rattle cans for anything but painting parts (reflectors and such) - when people talk about 'spraying', I think of an airless, definitely not rattle cans.
