First time Hempy indoors - Light question?

A friend and I want to set up a quality garden in our new house. We have access to several closets and bedrooms. We want to harvest a total of at least 6oz every month using Hempy method.

A. Is it smarter to set up a hobby sized garden in an enclosed space (i.e. a grow tent) or can one grow quality nug in a wide open space (i.e. the corner of a room). Would it be hard to control odor in the open space, nugs lack density, require more light, etc?

B. How much light/space will I need to harvest 6-8oz every month, and what bulb to use? Will this size setup REQUIRE ventilation? Willing to use 2 6's or 1k lights, whatever the OG who responds recommends.

C. What additives are crucial to your feeding regimen?

..Trying to spend money where it really counts for our first time indoors. Thanks in advance for any reputable advice.

Your asking a lot of open ended questions....many answers for each, it just depends on what you want and your space restrictions. It sounds like you don't really have much of a space restriction.

A. Yes, it would be harder to control the odor in an open space. You would need to scrub the entire room unless you did use a tent/box so you just have to scrub the tent. You want sufficient light, there is a point of deminishing returns...you can search other posts for sufficient light.

B. Strain dependent on the amount of space...indica/sativa? How long will you veg?...usually will stretch 1.5x-3x roughly once the lights are switched. Ventilation is always a good thing. The lights you use will depend on the size of your grow area, some sites that sell lamps will show what size each lamp will adequately light up. I think awatter is has about a 3'x3' footprint. If you want 8oz each month that means you will want to do a perpetual harvest...search that phrase too. This I think will require a larger space because you will have plants at different heights. Instead, you may want to think about going for 1lb-1.5lb every 2-3 months that way everything has about the same canopy. Just a thought.

C. Many...many...many types of food you can use. You can go organic or just buy some stuff in the stores. I get great results from using a botanicare line of food with a few additives. Much easier to me to just use something you can buy than mixing up my own food. Just what I like, many others will say how great thier organic blend is...and I'm sure it is, just different strokes for different folks.

For the $$m I would suggest getting a decent light, good medium, ventillation and odor control (if that's an issue) ie. a carbon scrubber, and if you cannot modify the house with holes going into the attic or something...a good tent or grow box. Oh yeah, good genitics are always a good thing too.

I know this post really doesn't answer your questions, maybe only gets you to ask more. But good luck with your grow.

I think you should read through the grow diaries and find a method you like. from someone getting similar results to what you looking for

If you go to advanced search and search for "dry weight" under grow diaries it should filter out most of the half finished logs

Two well-thought replies. Thank you guys. Sneaky, you make a very good point about the canopy height. That would be a pain to deal with. Definitely taking your advice there, and I'll probably just run some auto's in the veg room to compensate for wasted space.

Search for "dry weight?" LOL, I'm always trying to think of useful search terms, but by the time I get to it I'm too baked to remember what I was searching for. I have been shopping around for methods to shadow, so this will help a lot, thanks Jacuzzi!
