Hey everyone,
Looking to start my first grow, nothing huge, just enough for my personal use and maybe some for friends if it goes well.
Stealth is key because we rent a house. Our landlord rarely comes and has no reason to go where I'm going to set it up, which is why that's where its going.
It'll be about 60 degrees ambient temperature in the indoor grow site (until the outside temp increases and we don't have to heat it anymore). I already have my ventilation and carbon filter setup planned out. My main issue is deciding on what kind of lighting I should go with. I have about a 4 foot tall by 4 foot long area to work with, but because of a sloped ceiling, I'm probably going to be limited to only 2 feet in depth. I'd like to use a tent in case I have to tear things down in a hurry, plus the grow will be on a third floor so even though I'm experienced in both carpentry and welding/fabrication, I'm not lugging a cabinet up there.
I've been trying to find a tent but the only one I can find that even comes close to fitting the space is much smaller than I'd like.

This is a foot lower than my height limitation, so if anyone knows of a 4ft tall, 4ft long, by 2 foot deep (ish) tent that I could look at, please let me know.
I would like to go with HPS lights because they seem to get the best feedback. Because my ambient temperatures will be about 60 degrees, thermostat controlled, I was hoping the HPS would be ok with adequate ventilation. I was considering this setup, and would just throttle back the controller if I ran into heat issues.

I was looking into LEDs, but they're pretty expensive initially and I don't know if they'll end up putting off enough heat to warm the tent up to 77 degrees. If I have to jam a space heater into the tent or crank up the thermostat, the LED power savings are kind of canceled out.
As far as soil/hydro, I'm still undecided but I'm leaning toward soil. Fox Farm Ocean Forest Organic looks promising and I think it'll be much easier for my first grow while I get the hang of it.
I still have a lot of reading to do and plan on researching the SCROG method because of my height limitation.
I guess that's it for now, sorry for all the questions. Any advice would be appreciated. If anyone has grown in this size space, please share your experience and knowledge.
