:dunno:

Hi this is my first attempt at growing the plants are about 5 weeks old now. I have been using a miracle grow potting mix and fox farms grow big. But lately have not given any fertilizer just water every 2 or 3 days after checking to see if soil is dry. The plants were only given 2 feeding of grow big but i don't know whats wrong with them so i have switched to just watering them. What would you guys suggest i do to prevent any more yellowing of leaves?

here is a short video i made showing the yellowing and brown spots on the bottom leaves that seem to be dieing

They need better nutes try a decent veg nutrient and add a cal mag supplement.also a plant that needs a bigger pot will show yellowing in the lower leaves that eventually kills the leaf.

Miracle grow is toxic to your microbe life.

I am new too, but am really liking the Down to Earth organic dry amendment line.

Mix with your soil, and use in aerated compost teas.

Not a yellow leaf in sight :)

Other than those few leaves, your plants look nice. I would pluck that fully yellow bottom leaf from your plant...

Didn't your parents ever teach you, if you don't have anything relevant to add, don't say anything at all?

They look fairly healthy but need regular feeding (every second or third watering depending on EC). Grow Big alone isn't a complete nutrient if I remember correctly and is intended to be used with their bloom feed.

I haven't used FF (too far north), but it's hard to jump the rails with any bottle feed at quarter/half strength for your first few grows.

Learn from others. There are dozens of grow logs and help threads for any nutrient system if you search around. The more time you spend scouring old threads the better. There is nothing you can do or have happen that hasn't happened many times before.

Good luck

You need some decent compost for a start. Then you need to let the plant get through the nutrients in the compost.. There's nutrients already in the compost.. so if you feed when the compost is hot it can burn young plants.. so wait until it gets through the compost nutes then start feeding them... the plant will show you when they start getting hungry.. Then you need to feed them with canna specific nutrients.
