First time DWC!!! WTF?!!!

Ok the skinny. TW and SLH growing in 18 gallon tub with ph water and Green Fuse Root stimulator. I used half strength the 3/4 per gal advised. It is phd at 5.8. Regular tap water. The water temp is 62 degrees and the room temp is 70. They been in the bubbler for two. This came over last three days. They are 3 weeks from seed. The I was thinkin maybe the water is to cold but the roots are still growing. Any help is greatly appreciated, again this is my first go at DWC. :wallbash: Thanx in advance :thanks: Sorry if the flix arent super clear.

Dump it start over and use 1/4 strength.

Or check your EC / PPM instead of using 1/4 strength use 400 ppm
and up it to 600ppm.

My first thought is you're starving the plants. Unlike soil, water isn't food. Neither is Green Fuse. It's a supplement to aid feeding. Your plants asking for a 7 course meal and you gave it half a vitamin pill.

Here's some thunks at day 22, both at 6 nodes

Actually, I'll second this. Get yourself some nice hydro ferts. I'd reccommend AN Sensi 2 part veg and 2 part bloom. Follow the directions, and it's hard to screw up.

I got nutes I just wasn't sure when I should start givin em. Thanx for the response. I am gonna dump and start em on the Lucas 8/16. Is that too strong, at the moment i dont have an E.C. meter. I appreciate the feed back from all. By the way I think my tapp water is 200-250 ppms.

How do your roots look?
Do you have enough air running into your air stones?
What is your water level like inside of your bubbler? Do the net cups sit within the water? How much are you filling it?

One side note about growing in a hydro set up (like what you have) is that that your plants are small and don't need a full strenght solution, so you could mix just two gallons worth of nute solution and then dillute it down by adding in 14-16 gallons of water to the mix. Even though the solution has been dilluted down, your plants will still take up those nutes even if they are dilluted that much.

I totally agree he needs some real ferts, but he also needs to dump the water and start fresh with 1/4 strength ferts.
It looks as though he seemed to have locked something out.
Mag and Phos it looks like to me.
A fresh start will clear you up along with some real nutes.

This is what happens to clones when you leave them in cloners too long without food.

Good luck

That's what I'd do.

After a week or two, shift to 1/2 strength and start charting EC and pH movement to determine further changes.

My suggestion:

Dump and start over.

Use RO water. Your tap water at that PPM isn't exactly great so you might have to use more PH down.

Find a balanced nutrient then you can add your other things.

I work mainly with General Hydroponics. So.. I like to use Micro
and Bloom in a 2:1 ratio for veg. And for plants like that you can
mix somewhere between 500-1000 PPM. You will have to watch carefully to make sure they dont get nutrient burn, in DWC, they are constantly fed so a little less works better.

Lastly check your airstones, I dont think this is the cause of your leaf curl, but its really hard to over-aerate a DWC bucket.

Just make sure your PPM's stay constant, your PH doesn't drift and you will have some monsters.

Good luck.:smokeit:

That's FreezerBoy for ya... right on the money :) Nice looking thunk too. :D

It's always a good idea NOT to use the full strength recommended by the manufacturer on the bottle, especially when using them with cannabis. Use less and work your way up.

As far as food goes.... GH MaxiBloom is a great dry fert to use for both veg and bloom for soil or hydro... perfect for DWC. :D

Yo I appreciate all the feedback. I do have real nutes. I run the GH flora series, minus the green. But yea my problem is I had a faulty EC meter so I cant track ppms at the moment. My roots look fine. I have to dual pumps with four airstones, they are getting plenty of oxygen. I dumped and gave em 5ml/gal of micro and gave em 10ml/ of bloom. I phd it to 5.6. My water temp was 73 degrees. I guess where I went wrong is not feeding em, cause I was thinkin soil and usually wouldnt feed yet. But let me cross my fingers. Cause I cant afford to lose these babies, my seed stash had an unfortunate accident, so these were my last. And money is tight

You definitely want a swing in pH and EC.

No single pH reading allows absorption of all nutes. pH should swing between 5.6-6.0. If pH moves, EC goes the other way, it's a package deal.

You can calculate PPM's using this software. Just remember your source waters PPM's.

http://www.angelfire.com/oz/growbase/NutrientPPMCalc/help.htm

The program is called nutrasolve. VERY handy grow software.
Pretty handy when you are trying to mix to a target PPM.

Check your formula, IMHO Micro should be used 2 parts for every one part bloom. I like to keep the nitrogen high during veg phase.

I"m not threadjacking.. just kinda answering the comment.

Very true, but I keep a consistent PH during veg and an the PH changes during flower. I'm trying to optimize nutrient N absorption
during veg with a PH closer to 6 and in flower I move the PH closer to 5.

So the only "swing" of PH is when the nutes are changed to a bloom formula.

I usually work with the ph values outta the bottle when using flora nova. Its a no brainer :) I like it that way.

Really.. the buffers in the nutrient do the work. The only time I really have to PH up or down (mostly down) is when I use water that has a PPM of over 100.
