First signs of spidermites

On my Sensistar I noticed they were a little bit droopy, the fan leaves curled down a little and had faded specks (very few), so I inspected the underside and found a few small whitish dots which didn't move. (Don't have microscope or magnifing glass). Are these spidermites? I hit'em with avid.:1help:thanks

You should have waited to hit the plant with anything until you knew for sure that it was mites. No reason to create a problem when there is none. Let me ask you this,do you spray your plants down with water during the lights on cycle? If so,water can bead up and cause little spots on the top of leaves.

No, I don't do much foliar feeding, maybe once or twice, but I have good air circulation and the plants were dry in 5 mins with no signs of burning, and also if I do, I do it in the morning just before lights on. This is my first grow in 9 years and I'm on day 10 of 12/12 after 3 weeks veg. I know how dangerous and how quickly spidermites can fuckup a garden so I think it's better to be safe than sorry, especially since buds will be forming shortly and I'd rather not spray buds.

hit them with floramite asap....ebay is a good place to find small amounts... safe for use on tomatoes and it will be gone by the time you harvest... little faded specks on the top of the leaf are the first sign; they almost look white.. avid is a little more hardcore than floramite but works as well... you want to hit the plants once with a systemic miticide and be done with it

Neem oil is your friend. It does wonders to help get rid of them. If you don`t want mites you could have sprayed your plants with neem oil or dipped them in some sort of organic pesticide. Diff plants react differently when it comes to pesticides. You could kill the plant or cause so much stress it turns hermi on ya. Be careful and good luck

thanks for the replies. I have Neem oil and a product called Spruhzit (german or austrian) (I live in central europe-Slovakia) which has pyrethrem in it (the active ingredient in Avid and Floramite) so basically same diff. I sprayed the Neem oil about 2 weeks ago preventivately but didn't do any spraying since because my plants looked so beautiful and healthy. So yeah I'll be keeping a keen eye on my babies (11 plants, 4 SS, 2 hempstar, 1 WRhino, 1 AK48, 1 TrainW, 2 Arjans haze #2) and only the Sensi seems to be affected. They are really short and bushy and leafy so makes it hard to get to all parts. Isolation is not possible. It's time to go to war, chemical warfare, maybe biological war too-might get the ladybugs or those other little critters :nanana:that eat'em if they (touchwood) were to spread:noway::noway::noway::noway::noway::noway::noway:

Mites have differing tastes ... some plants I have get them ... some get them Bad ... some don't seem affected at all. Your mites might be picky ...

i am dealing with my first case of mite in 10 years of growing.

other than the mite damage the plants seem healthy as normal.

and you aren't spraying chemicals on a plant in flower right?
