First serious 3 strain grow - opinions needed

Hi!

Long time reader, first time poster here.

I'm planning a multi-strain grow to find out what works for a family members health issue. The strains are RP kosher kush, TH bubblegum and CBD shark shock. The reasoning behind these choices is the thc/cbd profile of the strains (kk=high thc/low cbd, BG 3/1, SS 1/1).

I will be growing from seed and plan to take clones for future runs. This first run I would like to just get some reasonable yield on all 3 and select the right strain(s) for future grows with a more dialed in enviroment.

Space is limited, my two choices are 60/60/140cm + 250W hps or a 80x80x160cm + 400W hps with the smaller setup preferred. Medium will be a store bought organic soilmix with added nutrients yet to be determined.

Do you see problems with 3 different strains in such a small tent? KK grows tall and lankier than the rest. I'm thinking 1-2 gallon pots and KK in the back and BG + SS in front area of the tent for easier access.

Any suggestions/ideas/problems you more experienced growers foresee?

cheers!

getbuck's conversion appreciated. I suggest the taller set up. It'll be easier not to have to deal with space [height] issues. You'll need to prune to control height anyway. Also bending comes in handy. Keep in mind that almost all seed will have multiple phenotypes. So some of the Shark Shock will be high CBD and some won't. You'll want them to all be about the same height for light distribution. Good luck. -granger

Thanks for the input!
I was under the impression that cbd crew states the strain being atleast 1:1 and 5%/5%, some phenos reaching higher % and even more cbd.

On the canopy being even issue, I was thinking about mainlining the KK in the back of the tent + keeping herin control with LST. BG and SS will be on the front probably be LST'd when needed.

No problem running 3 strains in that space. I've run 8 strains in 4 sqft before. Yeah they were packed but there were no real issues. I've also run 14 strains in 9 sqft. You can do it. :)

Maybe it would be a good idea to do one strain at a time. That would eliminate a lot of potential problems and your space is very limited. You will be lucky to manage 6 plants in that small space. That's only two per strain and factor in males, you see where this is going.

The second space sounds good and I would go with the 400 or a 600 if you can cool it. Run 6 of one strain and fill some jars, go from there.

Just spitballing here..

Good luck!

Lester has a good point. I was going to say that, but I dove in my first time with multiple strains and I felt like I learned a lot more quickly that way.

Either way can't go wrong.

One strain at a time would def be the best way. The problem is i dont want to wait for 10months to find out what works for my relative.. the beans are all fem and im going to run only one of each this first time. Lets say he/she finds KK is helping, I'll pop the rest of the pack and fill the tent. Three plants even in the smaller setup shouldnt be a problem? Thanks for the help guys!!
