Well this is my first prepared grow with the right bulbs and nutrients and set up. Pretty much... few teething problems but we'll get to that. I had 3 thai bagseeds that just finished, turned out pretty nice, were only 8" tall and got an 8th off each but they had a lot of problems, one of which not being originally mine... Anyway! Im calling this my first grow. This story starts 4 days ago...
My seeds are 2 Lowryder Easyryders fem auto and a g13 labs blueberry gum fem. They were sprouted on damp paper and into rootex clone blocks. These went straight into pots and compost.
My soil mixture is 3:2 miracle grow veg compost:coir, pots are 20cm diameter, 20cm high, smashed crockery in the bottom for drainage.
They went straight under lights, around 3" distance from a 200w unbranded blue cfl on 23.30:30 light:dark. They had the first set of leaves up within 12 hours, second by 24. The tallest, an easyryder, is now just over an inch tall with inch long leaves. The shortest, the bbg, is 1/2" with two sets of leaves, the longest 1/2".
They are in a stealth style box constructed myself. Its 4mm ply, a two compartment box with a hinged top lid to the light chamber and a hinged door on the front to the plant box. The two are separated by a sheet of the thinnest perspex i could find. The inside was painted with matt white bathroom paint to all surfaces. The box itself is 80cm high, 60cm deep and 25cm wide. The light compartment is 20cm, the smallest the bulb would fit in. The plants have 60cm height and the full depth and width.
The bulb chamber has two 60mm fans on the top lid blowing out, two holes on the front sucking air in, keeps it a constant 80f in the plant box. Humidity is at 70% today but had two cups of mineral water this morning, usually sits around 60%.
The plants themselves have a front fan blowing inwards over them diagonally and a rear fan doing the same diagonally the other way. As i have found out, i need to make a carbon extractor on the rear and a safe intake to keep the air in the box fresh, will do that tomorrow (saturday 18th).
The plants are on a shelf keeping the tops a constant 2" from the bulb. Keeping them level by lowering the shelf for the tallest then lifting the shorter two on cd cases, working well.
My nutrients for when/if the need comes are biobizz grow and bloom. Havent used them yet, have read reviews and no their not the best but their what i have. They will be watered with aqua pura mineral water.
Will get some pictures and try to keep this updated and up to date with any problems i encounter, currently have a slight case of mildew from the stale humid air, fixing tomorrow with a draw through style carbon filtered system on the box, hasnt been a problem on the end of my last grow.
Thanks for reading this, feel free to pull up a seat and chip in with any and all constructive criticism.
