First indoor grow advice needed

Hey guys ive been lurking around here for a while, grown outdoors but now its time for me to setup my first indoor grow. This is my shopping list and what ive pretty much decided on..
Vortex 6" 449 CFM Powerfan $146.85 $146.85

Can 33 Without Flange $98.57 $98.57

600 Quantum $176.77 $176.77

Silver Edition Hut, 3' x 3' $176.76 $176.76

19" Cool Tube w/ cord $84.97 $84.97

Subtotal: $683.92

Now my questions...
Id like to keep the cost down as much as i can and i have yet to decide on a bulb, ducting, pots, medium, nutes, thermometer, oscillating fans, etc which will all end up adding up.

I would like to keep the exhaust to one fan, would the 6" vortex suffice? any other less expensive suggestions? How loud are these? Would it be possible to cool it and keep it at a low speed with a fan controller? Ambient temps would be around 75. Is there a correct fan controller type i need, i remember reading a thread about the different types of fan controllers.

I opted with the quantum ballast so that i case the temps get out of hand and during summer i can run it at 450 watts. I would prefer to run at 600 though. I need a suggestion on a light as i keep reading about light failures with digital ballasts. How often am i looking at replacing the bulb?

I am a med patient with 2 cards in my house so am limited by a 12plant count. I would like to set up some sort of perpetual grow with also maximizing my yield. Id love to SoG but thats not an option so i guess scrog would be the 2nd best option, but i dont know how to do that perpetually. any suggestions? How much can i hope to yield for my first time under a 600w for my first time indoor under a 3x3

thanks for all your help im sorry if that made no sense im pretty medicated right now

im sure the 6" exhaust fan will suffice.

yes to slow down the fan and not wreak havoc with your stuff a fairly expensive fan controller is necessary. someone else can input more or better info...
they do make a bit of noise, i figure it's mostly from rushing air, they do push a lot, but i could be wrong about where the noise comes from. i wrapped my fan in insulation, then put it in a mini garbage can on top of my tent...it keeps the noise down significantly.

and then a DIY muffler...

i dont think you would need to lower the overall wattage on the bulb/ballast because running at 450 watts wouldnt make much difference overall IMHO. They both give off tons of heat, counteract that with AC if youre worried about summer temps.

yield is sooooo subjective, id start growing...and try stuff out, then youll grasp what you like and what you want to continue or stop doing. perpetual harvest really only means youre growing out plants in different stages, which requires 2 growing zones...for different light, so youll need even more equipment.. check out my grow, it's similar to what you are wanting, but since it's my first go, im still learning and it's not dialled in at all, but im getting the idea of what id like to do more of...soon, the young plants wont be phased at all going from one cabinet to the next while their sisters take their spots in each of the cabinets in true perpetual fashion - i hope...

12 plants though huh, what about 2 tents, 6 plants 6 plants and just keep flipping them?(does hte medical limit count clones and mothers and jazz? i am not privy)
GL mate, it's lots of fun to boot!

Thanks for the response. I have a box that can be used as a veg chamber. I already thought about using the 2 tent idea but i was trying to avoid doubling my initial setup cost. I understand the concept of perpetual, i just didnt know how to accomplish say 5 plants under a scrog pulling one every 2 weeks and replacing it.

I'm allowed 6 mature or 12 immature plants (ridiculous limits tbh) per card. so if i have any plants flowering at all im allowed 6 plants total per card.

Im still looking for advice on a fan controller. Im also still looking for a lightbuilb to go with because i keep reading about bulb failures in lumateks but dont know if thats a problem with quantums

meh, im pretty sure i have a lumatek and it's fine for me. 400 watt switchable.

you wont be able to replace it every 2 weeks if it's in scrog, it's quite an immovable process. HOWEVER, having said that, there is a fellow on here...

verdantgreen... http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=124809

who has a modular scrog set up. if you have your heart in to scrog, which takes some practice, and learning just as much as the other methods, i think this is the best route for you. It's much more friendly than one big screen for your needs

I was also thinking today during class... what about a vertical scrog? Assuming i can achieve .75gpw with a horizontal setup, I could get 1lb per harvest. That would be using 9 sq feet of space. If i were to do a vertical setup, i could do a 16" screen and use say 5 foot vertically and increase area by almost 300% so could i realistically expect 2-2.5lbs with this setup?

vertical scrog? i havent heard of that so ill need some edumacation on that sir weezy:)

if you wanted to do a colosseum grow, that would be another way to achieve a good net yield. a couple shelves in there with tilted platforms, get another small preflower/veg cabinet or rubbermaid, and just keep piling up the shelves and taking them out when theyre done flowering. another quest i am considering when im finished my current
