First Indoor Grow, 3 beautiful ladies!

Ok Here it is.

This is my 1st grow. It's a 320 watt indoor soil grow. These girls were in veg for aprox 40 days. This marks day 18 of 12/12.

here's the grow room

not too shabby. btw, i was 3 for 3 for females. ( i am never this lucky )

here's my fave. she's from a bag of Mystery Mix a friend gave me. Thanks ;)

This is the bagseed plant. she's a real bush

thats all natural growth, no supercropping, no pruning, nothing

thats her after being watered (notice the droopy leaves).

that's it for now. I have 56k so it takes forever to upload. I'll get more on here soon, including some of their history.

any comments/ suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Plants look pretty good. I guess you have a "green thumb". I would use hid lights instead of the florescents. Your plants will be shorter and bottom branches would get more light and flowers. 50 watts per square foot for hid lights is pretty good to aim for.

Good advice sproutco. There is always room for improvement. Regardless if you use hid or fluoros, it definitely is great experience. Congrats on your first grow. I remember watching those beauties bulk up for the first time...

Take it easy.

Orange hairs at 18 days? Help!

Orange hairs at 18 days? Help!

I've started to notice some of the white pistils on my largest plant beginning to turn orange.
unfortunatly, the strain that this is occuring on is unknown. I noticed these a few days ago, maybe 16 days @ 12/12.

I've checked everywhere for signs of herm/male flowers, and haven't found any. phew!

I really don't know whay this is happening( it might not be bad), any advice would be great.

More input...In future grows whether your using florescents or hid, you should try to keep the lighting directly over the plants as close as possible without burning the leaves. You really have to "bear down on" them with the light. Light intensity decreases rapidly the further away from the bulb. Rather than spred your plants out, crowd them together and maybe create a tight area with reflective material surrounding them. It takes much more light(maybe 2x) to flower than just veg. It appears that your lighting is more like "gro and show"...not really directly shining on them closely. Your plants without having the lighting really close will have wide spaced nodes(between leaves). The bottom leaves on the plants appear dark and "spooky" and probably wont flower much. Some pistils will begin to age and turn slightly orange. This is normal. Hopefully, the plant is flowering more and new pistils are forming. You will get a mix of new pistils and older pistils. When more pistils are beginning to turn completely orange than new pistils are forming, you know that your plants flowering is slowing down and beginning to decline. I have seen some horrible plants over in the cannabis infirmary. You definately got the hang of it. Try for compact plants next time to improve yield and increase flowering. Am I being too critical? Sorry if I am.

not too critical at all! i love this forum and all of the people on it. (well most of em!) thanks to you guys, i have the plants you see up there. any advice is welcome and appreciated.

for this grow, i wanted to allow these plants to pretty much do their own thing. i wanted to observe how they grow so i know what to look for/what's normal next time around.

i was considering trimming them, maybe choping the stuff on the bottom that isn't budding too much/gets no light. what do you think/how should i go about doing that? again, i might just let them do their own thing, but any simple steps that increase yield sound good to me.

thanks again.

Flower the top half of the plant and not remove the bottom branches. Harvest the top part and drop the lights down closer to the bottom of the plant for several more weeks to increase flower size down there. Staggered harvest. :canabis:

when would you recommend i do this? Unfortunatly, i do not know the exact strain (and therefore the flower time) of any of the 3 plants. As i said, 2 are Magical mystery mix (from what i heard, some strain of Sagarmartha, def. an indica so I am thinking 50-60 days tops?) the third is bag seed and looks slightly sativa, so maybe a bit longer. Should i chop the tops early, or wait untill the trichs are cloudy/amber, chop the tops :joint: , and allow the bottoms to get more time?

As my sig says, I'm kind of on a tight schedule. I really wont be able to tend them after august 26th, but worse comes to worst i could probably work somthing out.

thanks for your help sproutco

Don't chop anything early. The bottom branches may continue to flower after you chop the tops. The "popcorn" may get larger.

would you guys recommend trimming fan leaves? I've heard that it's good to do if they're blocking light from budsites...i've also heard that it's better to leave them be.

I have a couple that i wouldn't mind doing away with. What's the best method...a good clean blade and a straight chop? anything special?

thanks again guys. (and ladies too, if you're out there!)

Just an update...

Just an update...

This marks day 34 of 12/12...these girls are getting real close and are becoming VERY stinky.

Unfortunatly, i've been dealing with some bad deficiencies and a tiny thirp problem, but I believe i've got both under control now.

Check out this Bagseed...anyone think it looks familiar? (i know...it could be ANYTHING, but it's worth a try!)

Check out the trichs on this MMM.

I sampled here recently and I must say....AMAZING. It was early, i know, but well worth it.

and finally, the sick (recovering) MMM.

should i chop some of those leaves? If yes...where?

They werent too bad actually, I only spent about $70 on the lights.

For my first grow i wanted to take it easy. This went really well. I hope to graduate to HPS in the future.
