first ic mag grow..need advice :)

this will be the place for all the info on my upcoming grow. ive grown a few times before but nothign to be proud about. this way i can track what i do better and make it easier to get help from other users. grow should start soon as im waiting till i move into my new place but weanted to get a head start so i can get it as dialed in as i can when it gets going. i saw this and it might help to know what ill be doing

SOIL:
What STRAIN are you growing? bagseed for now
What was the establishing technique? (seed or clone?) seed till i can learn to clone

What Technique are you using? (SOG, SCROG etc) scrog and lst
What size pots are you using? (Include how many subjects to pot) start in beer cups..then progress to as big as i can fit.
What substrate/medium are you using? (percentage of perlite, vermiculite...etc?) right now some MG organic about 66% and 33% of perelite
What Nutrient's are you using? How much of each? How Often? *Knowing the brand is very helpful* flora nova grow/bloom not sure how much to use i read 8ml per gallon..once a week
What is the TDS/EC/PPM of your nutrients used? gonna be getting a meter for xmas
What is the pH of the "RUN-OFF"? last grow was always 7.0 butr i over limed real bad...like 1 TABLEspoon per gallon of soil..how much should i use?
What method of pH test was administered? Using Strips? pH pen? hannah ph meter
How often are you watering? when the pot is light

What size bulb are you using? 8 23 watt daylight cfls for veg ...150 hps for flower

What is your RH Factor? (Relative Humidity) ranges usually form 40-60 %
What is the canopy temperature? in the summer it was too hot..like 80-85..but in the wintewr it hsoudl be colder
What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include fluctuation range) was around 80ish in the day and 65ish at night
What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.) have a stanley blower sucking air threw the light..alwso have a small fan blowing on the plants(when they go in there)
Is the fan blowing directly at plants? yup
Is the grow substrate constantly wet or moist? when its watered its wetr then it dries out ...i may be confused on this one hah
Is your water HARD or SOFT? i think hard..it leaves some rust spots in my shower..but i never clean it so it coulda been building up for years

wel thats a start i guess. my main conserns are how often and how much to feed, how much lime to put in soil (if i need it with the flora nova) and my "soil" i was told was a "soiless" mix shoudl my ph be at 6.0-6.2 or closer to the 6.5-6.8 range?

You don't need a ppm meter to figure the ppms of the individual elements. Nitrogen has the most control over what the plant does. As a rough guide, you want the following:

50-75 ppm n seedlings first feed when true leaves form not cotyledons.

After a couple of these mild feedings and the seedlings begin to take off, increase n to 100 ppm.

You can experiment and try raising n to 125-150 when plants get larger. Watch for burned tips to signal you should reduce your ferts some.

In flowering you want about 75-100 ppm n to keep leaves from dropping but not so much growth.

The math is easy using the numbers above. For example, if you want to feed 50 ppm n to your seedlings using the floranova grow, 50/217 x 8ml = 1.84 ml per gallon. (3.8 liters)

If you want 100 ppm n using floranova bloom during flower, 100/124 x 8ml = 6.45 ml per gallon Remember to use straight water the last 2 weeks of flower.

Since floranova grow and bloom contain alot of calcium and magnesium, you should use the least amount of dolomite lime as possible. Only enough to get the soil mix into range. Since you have time on your hands, make up test batches. Mix 1, 2, and 3 teaspoons of powdered/pulverized dolomite lime into 3 -1 gallon containers of your mg and perlite. Mix well. Get completely wet. Wait about 1 week. Then take 1/4 cup mix and mix with 1/4 cup distilled water. Stir. Wait 30 minutes. Test ph. Ph range for soilless mixes should be 5.6 to 6.2 Pick the lime rate that gets you just into range like 5.6+

You should fert with every watering. The containers should have alot of runoff. 20% of what you apply should pour out the bottom. Ph adjust the fert water using an acid or base after adding the floranova grow or bloom. About 5.8 to 6 should be ok.

150 watt hps is sorta weak. Keep plants as close as possible to the lamp without burning the leaves. Same with the florescents. Keep just an inch or so away.

Good luck!
