First Grow

Okay, my boy engineered this here box

left side 4fluor.veggin right side 400mh.flowerin

the ladies on the right are starting to flower and i was wondering if anyone knew what strain this could be. the seed was from a commercial strain? (because of abundance) that was around the area for over several months, was way better than dirt but not the best of the best, anyway we used the seeds we collected and this is what we got

the flowers have lots of white hairs, any suggestions would be appreciated :joint:

I can't really identify a random strain just by looking at it, but that's nice box you have going there. Nice work bro.

All plants start to bud with white hairs, then when they mature they start to turn to turn amber, then the ever so popular red. The best I could tell you is that you have some sort of hybrid indica/sativa plant. Definatly not 100% sativa and devinatly not 100% indica. I dont think anyone else would be able to identify exactly what strain it is, there is only a hand full of plants that have distinguishing physical characterists. Nice room, hope it is light proof in your flower room, you dont want any hermi's popping up. Why did you choose metal halide for the flower room if you dont mind me asking? You should get a hps and throw that mh in the growth chamber, just my 2cents. Looks good!!

indotoker basically took the words right out of my mouth! :)
Nice start tho man! My first indoor was with a mh too. It worked, but I definately saw the difference when I switched to HPS for flower. Harder to get dense bud with mh, imo. I also used unsure bagseed genetics that were floating around, and every grow with them, indoor or outdoor, they hermied. No matter what I did, lightproof or not, I got bannanas. I know I wasn't stressing them that bad, so I switched strains, and all was well, no more hermis!
Other than that, your plants look healthy and happy bro!
Keep it up, and you'll be amazed at what you can do. Just keep reading everything you can, especially on this forum.

this is blaze's friend. Yea, the flower chamber is light proof. The reason for choosing mh for this run was this is really a practice run for the larger room that is in constuction. Figured we could pick up the 400mh and use it for flowering in the smaller box, then for veggin in the room. Also going to pick up some decent genetics be4 switching to the new room. This bag seed seems to be doing fairly well though. Once the room is constructed I'll probably throw up a grow diary.

some details on the box....its 8 feet wide, 4 feet deep, and 4 feet high.....in between the 2 sides is an inline fan, which pulls air in the flowering side, and pushes it out the veg side vent when the door are closed.

a question for all of you, when you use fluros do your leaves turn a much darker green than under a mh or hps light? I'll have to get some higher quality pics up

Could be. I just noticed as soon as I switched to HPS, I got dense buds.
Maybe it was other factors that led to this.

i have grown with both hps is the best but mh is a tighter nug...i yield less with mh...but the buds are tighter

hey everyone
just thought i would throw up some more pics while im browsing around the site pondering the possibilities of the future :chin:

I love this one, its so symmetrical

I gotto give props to the person who posted about the ice cube tray as a cloner. We have had 100% success with it so far, even that real light one is doin better now. Its just an ice cube tray with vermiculite in the holes. It wicks the water up from the bottom of the tray.

here is a pic from when the we got the 400mh :woohoo:

I'm not sure how fast those babies are stretching, but you might want to be careful, because (as you probably know from owning one) MH lamps get extremely hot and that box looked fairly small. Looked really solid though for quick clone turnovers.
ALSO, mh lamps tend to produce less nug than hps because mh lamps lack the strong red spectrum that hps has. As far as density, hps will increase flower growth, while mh lamps will make strong flowers and the heat differential between on and off for most mh lamps lends itself to compact buds.
Overall, I would recommend HPS for their spectrum and their more efficient energy usage.

Philly thanks for stoppin in

We dont currently have the funds for a HPS 600 digi setup. So instead of just gettin a 400 HPS that would sit around later, we picked up a 400 MH that could be used for vegging later. It seems to be doing ok right now even tho it isnt the most ideal setup  a lot of stuff will change once the new room gets running :joint:

Oh yea I know what u mean about the heat.....the box got up to 115 degrees at one point. :badday: thank god it was really early on in veg. Temps are no longer really a problem, worked out all those kinks early on.
