So I am a first time grower. For reason's I will not go into I didn't smoke or even think of my ol' friend the herb for about 15 years. I restarted smoking about two years ago. One thing that I noticed was that the weed on the streets here was not as good as it was in the early 80s. Because I do not really have any connections anymore, and the said downfall of the quality of local pot I decided to grow my own. Basically I started growing completely alone, and all of you all in this forum.
I am curretly on the 6th week of flower on my first batch of big bud. I have seen some really awesome photos in here, and of course I am not doing that good yet, but I am very happy with what I have. I have 8 plants of BB blooming under a 400w mh & 400w hps. I can see the formation of some nice ass colas and the buds under look nice too. I see frosty leaves and trics. What I see on my plants looks much better than I bought last night for $300 an ounce. The pot I bought smelled skunky. My dealer never told me what it was called. The bag looked like a few big buds, and it was a little damp, as usual. I let it dry for a day in a paper bag and it turned out to be a bunch of popcorn buds compressed together. I looked and all of the buds in the bag had their tops cut off. I found plenty of unmanicured buds and small sugar leaves in the bag too. I separted and manicured the bugs last night and had two piles at the end, one of the clean buds and the other was the clippings. So I paid $300 for half an ounce of manicured buds, and I had to do the manicuring!
Anyway, here is my story. I am trying to just stay sane until I have my own weed to smoke. I hope I never have to buy dry herb again, unless it is from someone of the same character as many of the growers in here. Just watching the frosty buds develop before my eyes and waiting to smoke some great looking pot that I grew myself. I hope to never have to buy the chopped up popcorn buds again. And to think I am growing Big Bud too. It looks like there are a lot better choices as far as strength is concerned, so I am going to have to get something new that has a decent yeild but an outstanding high.
