First grow, quick question

Should I let my seeds pop through the soil before I turn on my 1000w hps?(40" away) Or, should I let them sit in the closet without the light on until they break through, then hit the light? I read they don't really need light until they break the soil. It is usually between 70-75F without the light on in the closet. Thanks

farmers right on that one, if i were u id use flouros to start with a 100hps might be a bit too much, personally i wudnt risk it but if u cant use flouros then use the 1000hps just be very careful and keep a close eye on them..

Thanks guys. Im gonna go with the 1000 from the get go. I have an in-line fan on the way to cool the hood so I should be alright.

Leave the seeds in the dark until they pop...just dont let temps go under 70f and you will be ok

Bigmone357 I shop at one of Alternative Garden Supply's Hydro stores and I've seen that light. It's nicely bright and solid. They have it over their propagation table, It is completely silent.
420oc what size is that closet. It's definately gonna get warm in there without the exhaust fan. Hopefully that fan will get there soon.

Yeah thats gonna get warm quick with a 1000w hps. Seems 450 CFM minimum, 625+ CFM would be better. Depends on other factors like duct works size distance and shape, intake placement and design, hood heat collection efficiency, circulation, etc. I take it those measurements are in feet (ie 8h=8 ft ceiling), many here use the metric system, but I didn't think you had an 8 meter ceiling(that would be nice though). I'm using a 400w HPS with a PL cool hood and glass and a Dayton 265 CFM squirrel fan, with 4" ducts . Early on I could not keep the temps down below 85F with an ambient temp of 75F outside the closet. My space is just a bit smaller 2.5'L x 2.5'W x 8'H As the plants get bigger temp seems to get easier to keep down. Your volumn is at 64 cubic ft, I'm at 50 cu.ft. Hopefully all will be ok, good luck with your grow, may big buds be in your future.
