First grow in a long time.

After a very long hiatus, I'm playing again. Need Med M and the only way to get it around here is to make it myself. I know how much a small room large walk in closet can produce from the old days and just don't need or want to make money at it. People get busted too easy by putting it out there. Posting on the Internet isn't too smart either. As I'm a working Quad, I just don't give a shit about that anymore. What they going to do, put me in detention? I'm already a fucking quadriplegic. Spank me? maybe telling me I'm a bad boy? Hell I know I'm a bad boy. I took the time at one wire every 10 to 40 minutes to build my LED array. I called it Zen, and the art of not picking up a hammer.

My light:

37 10w LED's. 10 warm white, 5 cool white, 6 royal blue, and 16 deep red. Arrays are, 2 arrays of deep red, 2 arrays of warm white, 2 arrays of cool white, and one array of royal blue. Each array is run with a constant current driver. I used cheap ebay Chinese lights and drivers. Drivers are NOT those pre-made low power pieces of shit. They're even cheaper at $4.50 each without heat sinks and cases. Power supply is a Meanwell knock off at 48v adjusted down to 35v as the CC drivers are only good to 35v IN and 30v OUT max.

Heat sinks are old server heat sinks with 660sq/in surface area each and fans are a mix of old and new pancake fans. 7 modules total, with five center heat sink modules holding 5 x 10w LED's and two end modules holding 6 x 10w LED's. Each module sports a CC driver as it also utilizes the heat sink for cooling. Running the modules without fans can be done, but i don't recommend it. Things warm up but within specs (if you trust the Chinese specs. I don't) With fans, all arrays are at ambient temps.

Box:

Size: 19" x 39" x 48"
1/4" plywood walls, ceiling and floor. 2 x 2 corners.
White latex paint.
venting: 4" duct fan with 3 speed adjustment. Intake is a 8" x 8" dark room vent, while exhaust is out the top using HYVAC duct work.
Odor control is stove top vent carbon filter.
2 x 13w CFLs for lighting when I work on the girls as I hate LED lighting.

Costs were $220 for LED's drivers and mistakes for 370 total watts. (but turned down for longevity) (Yes there is less total power also, because each red LED runs at 700ma. not100ma.) Cabinet ran about $220-280 with all hardware. I figured $500 was a good price for what I wanted, and i wanted to be a Bad Man. A very Bad Man, yeah, sniff-snear.

Crop is a first trial of spicy bag seed started under 400W MH to get a feel, then 5 Sour Cream, then 42 bag seed plants. All bag seed plants are sacrificial for experiments and tests. All seeds were started in peat pucks, but were put in moist paper towels and plastic bags to crack them.

Timing is first spicy Indica looking bag seed is 7 weeks old. A bit stunted from over watering but doing well and showed the first female preflower tonight. 5 x Sour Cream doing pretty good and have been topped once. (2 x successful FIM, and 3 x just topped-Fuck i missed) They are about 8 x 8 to 9 x 9 in size. The 42 bag seed are a mix of the best worth saving seeds and have been culled down to 12 in 3" pots and are 2.5 weeks old.

I'm going to have a hard choice deciding what to thin as things get bigger. The stunted spicy smelling Indica will be saved. Any SC males will be flowered in a rubbermaid container for the pollen. If I have more than 3 x SC females I'll have to think what I'm going to do as SC is said to stretch 400%. Two of the 3" bag seed are for sure keepers, and will be set off to the side of the cabinet if they are female and culled if not.

I'll add to "Things I have learned" in the next post. Time for bed. Want to thank Seed Bay for causing me so much mayhem. :tiphat: So many choices! Thanks for the freebees that were a better choice than what picked out for pain from cancer. Makes me want to build more boxes!

Good night all.
