First Grow (in 20 years) General Q's

I'm a soil man, using Miracle Grow Organic, and I've got my seedlings in small pots. They're all about 2" tall. Seeds from who-knows-what breed that came from a friend's bag o' weed.

When should I move them into my 5-gallon pots?

I'm growing under a 4' florescent tube lamp (2 tubes) plus 2 2' vertical tubes (which I'll turn on when they girls are bigger) inside a small 3 x 5 "tent" of white shower curtains, and a small fan to blow CO2 about. How long does it normally take for them to get big enough to induce flowering? Do folks normally harvest the whole plant, or do you just pick the buds and reveg, or do you do both, depending on the time of year and if there's time for another harvest (for out-door, shed or greenhouse grows)?

Thanks for your help. I've been lurking for a while, and I can tell this is a cool and helpful group with a lower troll-to-human ratio than most forums I've been a part of.

Welcome Back. I hate to start off neg but be careful with the MG soil. What size are the pots now? half gal? Most people chop the thing down. Veg time is probably 3 weeks from seed.

Hey, if I need to hear negs, I need to hear negs. What's up with MG Organics? I want to start simple, not complicate my life by experimenting with soils.

They are currently in quart-sized pots.

Thanks, daishere.

MG organics is ok I have used it before. Has bugs sometimes. You can move the plants to the final pots at any time but I would wait about a month of veg. It is easier to manage the moisture level in smaller pots is all.

You will want the lights within 1 or 2 inches of the flowering plants as the light is kinda weak with flouros. The longer you veg the more you will yield in flower, but you can flower at around 3 weeks if you want to.

I do not reveg and most do not so no opinion there.

Thanks, yesum.

Now that I've looked at the How to Reveg article in the Link-O-Rama, I'm not sure that's what I mean by reveg. I was thinking, hey, how about after a month of vegging, I go to 12/12 to force one or more plants to flower, pick the buds, then return to the 18/6 cycle, won't they just go back into veg cycle and grow bigger, where I can do another round of flowering and harvest the whole thing?

Yes, I'm a clueless noob. Y'all stop laughing. :)

That's the definition of reveg Papa.
Most people only do it if they have a keeper female and they neglected to take a cut before flowering. I do it when i flower my last vegging SD or whatever and notice one day that i have no vegging clones from it, damn it i hate it when i do that!!
Pain in the ass, takes a month...
yesum's advice was all good.:tiphat:

Toes.

my menthol flavored bubblegum plant didn't re-veg. I think I cut way too much of those vapo-rub/bazooka joe scented buds off.

Oh. That's what I thought, but the description and photos in the linked article takes a lot more drastic cuts than I had planned. They took all the plant except the bottom branches (he says buds... really? you'd leave some buds on the plant?), but I was thinking I'd just take the buds and leave all the branches. Thanks for verifying that I was on the right wavelength, paper thorn.

Okay, scratch all that. My memory of the one grow I did 20 years ago is obviously very dim, 'cause I don't remember the whole plant being covered with buds like I see in some of the pics on this site. I see now that buds take over almost all the bracnhes and leaves, so that clipping all the buds pretty much takes all the plant. It's starting to make more sense. I sure don't remember it like that, though. Am I really that old?!

I'm looking forward to having such problems. :)

Thanks again to you both!
