first grow in 10yrs nutrient questions strains white walker,criticalhog viper cookies

hello everyone it's been a long time and this will be my first grow in 10 years so im a little rusty. I have a few questions and I as wondering if you all could help me out. First the strains im doing are white walker kush, viper cookies, critical hog, truthband, rainbow jones and blue dream. I want to do about 8 to 10 plants at a time. As of right now I have one 600 watt hps. is this sufficient fore that many plants or should I go get a 1000 hps? I was also looking into adding either a mars2 9oo or 1200 ive heard mixed reviews about them but for the price I might try them out. Another question I have is about nutrients. I've been leaning towards using the advanced nutrient line ive heard a lot of good things about them but its expensive ,id have to drop about 400$ to get everything I wanted. do any of you have any good recommendations on nutrient lines? ive looked into dyna grow and general hydro a little bit too. I used to use the canna line back in the day when they first came out. I loved it back than but im looking for something that might help me with getting bigger yields. the canna line gave me decent yields and the buds tasted amazing but I want to try something different this time around. ive also been looking into buying a grow tent. I have a huge walk in closet but I like the idea of the tents. I used to use hp promix so I might just stick with that any recommendations on soilless soil would be appreciated to. as soon as I have everything up and going ill start posting pics.thank you for your time and ill be looking forward to seeing your replies.

To answer your first question. Lighting and the choices you make are all relative to your goals which be narrowed down by the reality of your space. I have used DE, HPS, MH, VHO. HO and LED with wattage from 40 to multiple 1000's. and even have all of the above available setting on the shelf. What I choose to run is LED for VEG cycle (wouldn't attempt flower) my primary reason for this is heat and penatration. Followed by low wattage MH. For flower I choose to run nanolux 1000 de. Look at your foot print a 600 will cover a 4 x 4 area with the light about 18" above. The best recomendation for now is to run what you have and learn your strains before making adjustments. For Nutes..... I like the end results using heavy 16.

thank you for replying I greatly appreciate any help. i'm going to start with my 600 and I may add another 600 down the road. I think im going to go with advanced nutes but im also going to buy maxgrow and maxibloom because ive heard great thing for the price. I think Im going to stick with promix for now but ive been reading into coco a little. also this grow im going to try 2 plants and 5gallon hempy buckets to see how those work as well. i'm growing for a friends that are very sick so im getting everything started asap. ive been looking into getting some beans from la plata labs does anyone else know of any good breeders I should try out? I will be posting pics as soon as everything is up and going. thank you for your time.

Start with clones and one method when you get 1-2 runs try one thing different ..... Resist the urge of trying everything or even more than one thing at a time small changes can snowball and when you make 2 snowballs well you've got real problems

Hi eastcoast99, well here's my advice. Go organic. Under one 6oow light I would buy 4-6 smart pots of the 6-8gal size...you will need about 50 gal of soil.
Then I would start building a soil. A soil which will be used again and again. You know ROLS? recycled organic living soil. The advantages of using a living organic soil are many.
For one your plants will be healthier.
They will have better immunity to problems with pests, PM and the like.
They will yield well and growth will be vigorous despite what some hydro heads may claim.
You will save money in the long run. No EC meters, no Ph meters, no chemical pesticides, no nutrients, no boosters, no flushing.....and your cannabis will be better than any grown with "nutes". You know nutrients are just fertilisers....but nutrients sounds better.
You can grow better weed without all these products these companies want us to buy. It is a real shame people get so caught up in these material things thinking this is the only way to grow weed. Well is is not, all these products are not necessary.
Start a vermicompost bin (anybody can do this, even inner-city folks)
Start a compost pile in your garden (if you have one) if not buy some locally.

To make 50gal soil buy
12gal perlite/vermiculite
12gal garden compost (if you don't make your own, buy locally)
6gal coco coir
6gal peat (promix)
6gal vermicompost (earthworm castings)
6gal quality topsoil. Yes just go outside to your garden or wherever (a clean natural environment) and dig it up.
2gal amendments (can be anything you want, anything available locally that will inprove your soil, things like biochar (charcoal), clay, oyster shells, different types of meals (alfalfa, neemseed, crab, etc)
Mix this, let it sit for a few weeks then you are ready. At the end of each harvest add something, but remember LESS IS MORE.
At the end of every harvest I put all the fan leaves and chop up the stems of my plants into my soil, also stinging nettle and let it decompose.

Thank you all for replying. I'm constantly learning and I have all of you to thank for that. I think my next grow I'll try all organics but for this one after doing some more research I went out and got some heavy16 and promix. I've been reading a lot of good things about heavy16 so I want to give it a try.using this line what is the best feeding schedule from seedling thru veg?

1st ones to show leaves is truband. Once I figure out how to post pics I'll put some up. Got them under t5s for now. Using gh rapidrooter with the whole h16 line in a HP prmoix with extra perlite added.I gave the babies a tiny bit of rapid and in a week or so I'll hit them with h16. They're all in the propagator with 78% humidity and temp is 80 degrees.Im also starting up some beans I've been holding onto for 10 years to use for breeding purposes. Those strains are old school widow, nl#5, jack herer and eastcoast mass super skunk. My buddy used to be a breeder and gifted me 100s of these just never had the time before to do what I wanted to. From what i recall the mass super skunk he had was like roadkill skunk. To this day I've never smelt anything like it. The widow he had reeked bad of skunk too. I also have a question I was wondering if anyone could help me out with. I recently bought a pack of viper cookies from truenorthseeds and when I got them all but one seed was white and they won't germinate. Should I call the company back and see what they can do or am I pretty much just shit out of luck with them. Again thank you for you time.
