First grow help - when to start the lights

Hi,

I have a couple of noob questions that I've had bouncing around in my head for a little while now.

I have started to germinate my seeds and so far 3 out 9 have come through. When should I place these under the lights? I have read many different grow guides and some, such as the Soft secrets guide recommend placing them under the lights when they get about 4/5cm high and others say straight away. What would you guys recommend?

Second question is about soil and transplanting. I am using BioBuzz allmix which has enough nutes in it for 2 weeks growth. If In about 2 weeks (or when plants show sex) I transplant into a bigger pot of this soil, should I leave it another 2 weeks before adding more nutes?

Sorry if that was a bit garbled. Cheers for any help.

Hey KingLlama,

I would say put them under right away bro, flourescents for preference as they emit very little heat and can be put very close to seedlings then switch to HPS.

I also agree blazeoneups recipe is worth a look:canabis:

PEACE.

P.S. Aim high and you will achieve great things

Cheers for the advice people, thought it sounded a bit strange leaving the shoots in the dark.... but then again the guys at Soft Secrets obviously have more experience than me.

They are currently under a 200Watt Vegging CFL. I don't have the room for the HPS just yet. Rented accomadation so stealth is an issue. They are about 4 inches away and the temp is at 25 Degrees C.

I may look into a 150 or 250 HPS in the future though.

I hope to take off the L plates and achieve great things soon :rasta:

Dammit my temps are currently running at 28 C. I moved the light up a little and added a CPU fan below the light and it's taken it down to to about 27C. Will this be damaging to my plants? I have two 3 inch intakes at the bottom right of my cab and a fan pulling through a carbon scrubber at the top left. I'm not sure of the exact CFM of my fan but was assured by the guy at the hydroshop that it had enough pull through for the scrubber. I can say that it's kicking out a lot of air behind the cab and I can feel it pulling through the scrubber.

I'll take pictures as soon as I can, missus is asleep at the mo and won't be impressed with the flash

Can't thank people enough for the help, I'm enjoying being part of this fantastic community already.
