First grow - Cotyledons troubles

Hi folks,

I'm 5 days into my first grow of Dark Angel and about 48 hours after she sprung from the dirt. Now about an inch and a half above ground.

One cotyledon looks damaged/stunted and yellow. The other looks green but is slightly yellow on the far edge and both are curling down.

Read a lot prior to me starting but I think I screwed up from the beginning.

Started seed in water for 14 hours, then paper towel for a couple days. Moved to seedling soil afterwards. I prepped the pots by watering until saturated and then let dry for a day or so before planting.

Once the seeds popped and showed a tap root of about half an inch, I planted about 1/2 inch down, covered with soil and watered on top with about 2-3 tablespoons. i was misting them everyday for the last 2 days.

Light is a CFL about 50w at about 6 inches from the soil. No fan, nutes, dome, etc.

Over watered? Too deeply planted? Both? Do you think she'll recover?

Thanks in advance for the help/advice!

I wouldn't worry to much. It will pull thru. Try and keep your temperature as close to 78F and use RO water. What kind of soil are you using? And what nutrients do you plan of giving them? Have fun man!

Thanks man. Temps range from 71-78 through-out the day. I've been using distilled water so far. My plan is to use an organic water-only soil from a local nursery called KIS Organics. If I'm understanding this soil type correctly, I don't think I need to use extra nutes, but I guess time will tell.

Your pic isn't loading for me but if you're using distilled water don't forget to mix in at least a little tap water so the water doesn't leach minerals and nutrients from your plant and soil.

Hmm, pics broken. Uploading them again.

Ah,*thanks for the*advice.*Will do*for the next watering.

Plant looks fine. There may be a funky looking cotyledon, but the true leaves that are starting to grow look great... that's what really matters. Biggest mistake with beginning growers is to try and do too much for the plant... over-watering, and over-feeding. Just let them grow.

jus keep letting it grow. the way I germinate is i grab two plates n grab a thick paper towel n get it wet like soaking wet n put wet paper towel on one plate n the seed on the wet towel. now bend the other side of paper so dat the seed is covered by the whole towel. cover with the other plate n wait two days max for the root to pop out. never fails me.. ur plant looks OK those leaves end up dying anyways wen it gets bigger. don't have the light to far either cus den it'll jus get lengthy. I wood jus use tap water. dats wat i used for my last grows n never had a problem. now dat i use ro water i had a nutrient deficiency. I got it fixed now tho but uma stick to tap water next grow

Thanks everyone for the advice. I de-stressed and just let her be. She seems healthier already

Now my other one just looks sick/dead. Buried her too deep and the soil was too moist I guess. I move a little soil away and found her yellow cotyledons and white stem beneath about 1/3 in of soil
