Hey, Im new here and have recently dove into growing lol. Here is some info about my grow before I get into the issues or help I need.

HYDROPONICS/Aero Ponics/Coco/Soiless/

How long has this problem been going on?
Roughly 2-3weeks

Are you growing in a PVC grow tent? (example: Hydrohut or any other non brand tents)
No I have constructed a wooden box.

What system are you running? (DWC? Ebb flow? Aero? Water Farm? Flood Tables? and so on...)
Aeroponics

What STRAIN are you growing?
Unsure, got seeds from a bag of buds lol.

What was the establishing technique? (Were the seed or clone?)
Seed

What is the age of your plants?
2 Months Roughly

How long have they been in there mixture they are in now?(coco, soiless etc..) Whole growing period.

How tall are the plants?
Between 50cm and 100cm.

What PHASE are the plants in? (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in?
Vegetative

What Technique are you using?
Trial and Error lol. I take PH, TDS and Temp readings from res twice a day, change res once every week.

What substrate/medium are you using?(Hydroton, RockWool etc.)
Clayballs

What is the Water temperature?

Day time it runs a bit hot but I have frozen bottles to cool the water. Generally sits between 18C-22C (24C on a hot day or if Im late changing the frozen bottles) At night time it sits comfortably at 16C-18C

What color are your roots? White? Brown? Are your roots slimy?
Mostly white but they have a tinge of brown. Definitely not slimy.

What Nutrient's are you using?(If growing soiless)
Cultiplex: Extra-Nutrex Grow
(N: 20%, P: 8%, K: 18%)

How much of each nutrient are you using with how much water?
In 70L of Water I put:

210ml Nutes
14ml 50% hydrogen peroxide

How often are you feeding? (If using soiless)
15min off 15min on. Until I work on building or buying a better timer it seems to work well.

How often are you giving nutrients? (If using soiless)

When PPM drops or when res needs a change. Generally keep PPM around 700

What is the TDS/EC/PPM you are using

PPM of water is 700 - 750

What is the pH of the "Tank"?
I try to keep it around 5.2. Generally when I check it morning and night it has risen slightly.

How often are you testing your pH/PPM/EC/TDS?
Morning and night. Sometimes more if I notice dropping or other issues.

Are you sure your calibration is correct on your equipment?

I have another TDS meter on its way as mine has been playing up but still believe its correct reading. I have also just calibrated my PH meter which was off by 0.1

When was your last feeding change?

How often do you clean your system: example: Flush out water replace with clean water and nutrients?

Once a week. did have an algae outbreak at the beginning then i was changed more frequently but that has since been fixed so every sunday it generally gets changed.

What size bulb are you using?
1000w. the area was meant to be bigger hence the big light.

How old is the bulbs you are using?
2 years (roughly a few months operation)

What is the distance to the canopy?
40-60cm

What is your RH Factor(Relative Humidity)?

Not sure, last thing i need to buy is humidity sensor.

What is the canopy temperature?
Roughly between 24-25C. When I place my hand at the top it is comfortable and not hot.

What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include flucutaion range)
Day: 22-25C
Night: 16-19C

What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.)

Not entirely sure but positive its enough.

Tell us about your ventilation, intake exhaust and when its running and not running ?

Intake air is pushed though the ventilation then light and then back outside. I have a portable air conditioner to keep temps low, 1 decent sized fan and 1 small one directed at the canopy. I also have another exhaust pushing more air into the box to try and compensate for the hot air being pushed out by the air con. Everything is running while the lights are on (18hr) and only the fans run while the lights are off.

Is the fan blowing directly at plants?
Yes

Is your water HARD or SOFT?

Hard

What water are you using? Reverse Osmosis (RO)? Tap? Bottled? Well water? Distilled? Mineral Water?
Tap :(

If using tap water, what is the ppm/EC/TDS of the water right out of the tap? Around 180-250 PPM

Has plant been recently pruned, cloned off of or pinched
Nope, nothing.

Have any pest chemicals been used? If so, What and When?
No chemicals

Are plant's infected with pest's
No pests as of yet *knock on wood*

So I know aeroponics isn't for beginners. Ive done my research (although I still have alot to learn) and really thought I would enjoy the challenge. So far getting started was the hardest part but once I got going everything has gone pretty well.

I currently have 2 issues.

1. I have some twisting at the top of one of my plants. This doesn't mean much to me cause Im pretty sure its a male (photos below and my other issue) and I will be ripping it but I want to know whats causing it. So far my logic tells me the heat from the light, but when i place my hand there for over 30sec it really isnt hot and is comfortable for me.

After doing some research I found it could have something to do with too much nutes or wrong PH. So i recalibrated my PH meter (which was basically on point), flushed my res and plants and tested to see if that helped. No luck. I tried lowering the nutes. No luck there either. I also read old leaves wont repair themselves so would this be the case with these?

2. I need some help determining the sex of my plants and would really like some confirmation. ATM I have 3 plants growing. Lets call them A. B. and C.
A and B haven't had any issues and have grown fine, from the Algae out break C had some stumped growth and it was quite noticeable compared to the other two. Ill label the photos the same so its easier to identify. Im pretty confident A is a female, B is a male but C as me stumped. It could possibly be a Hermie.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. If you need anymore info please don't hesitate to let me know :D

You say your PH is @5.2

That is way too low. You can see the plants reaction to the low PH in the tops of the plants. If you feel the leaves they will feel different then the other leaves. The leaves will have more of a texture to them as the ridge veins are curling closer together which makes the texture like feel to the leaves.

Thanks for the advice, Ill have a feel when I check them again but I get what you are saying and definitely makes a bit of sense. I've read all sorts when it comes to PH in aero. They have been doing pretty well considering the PH is too low. Where should I keep it for aero? Im pretty sure I got 5.2 from another forum, but I've also read 5.5-6.5, 5.8-6.0 + many more lol.

You want your pH to start off at 5.8 and not rise past 6.1. Mix the res and the beginning of the week and top with plain water and correct the pH. Change the res out completely at the end of each week.

The h2o2 may be a little strong as well.

Ok great! thanks :) I'll change the PH first, if not doesn't help I'll lower how much h202 I put in and see if that helps.

Your medium that you use, will affect the PH "set point". Your nutrients may also play an additional role where you end up setting your PH, I've noticed the ideal spot for you PH changes between different Brand Nutrients. There only seams to be a couple point different. If you are growing in Rockwool you want to be in the lower PH range 5.5-6.5 (normally about 5.8). I grow in bubblers and aero units and where I my set my PH is at 6.2, that makes my PH range 5.8-6.6

Great, thanks for the advice. I'm using clay balls at present. Over the last week I have kept it at around 5.7 - 6.1 and everything seems to be going well.
