First grow, 400mh 1000hps Strain: BigMac

Hello youal! its my first grow and I'd like to share it with ICmag, and hopefully get some constructive comments!

I've been reading the book "Indoor Marijuana hosticulture by Jorge Cervantes" and here in ICMag, and I think I shoul pull a good result out of this grow! I'll keep my fingers crost

I'm using the KISS concept (Keep it simple stupid), so you wont see anything fancy but hopefully a good grow with not to many products.

I'll be telling what I'm thinking:

- I'm starting from seeds! couldnt get clones!
*strain: BigMac (BC BigBud x Mikado) from federation seeds that I got from HempDepot

- the room is 11x5, I'm gona make it the right size for what I'm doing in time with a temporary wall

- I'm gona veg under 400w MH like you see in whare houses and I have a 1000w hps/mh on its way with a cooled reflective hood, (I mite get a 1000w hps kit also! dont know if I'll be using it!)

- I'll be using a inline fan and try to get some other fans to get air flow, I realy want get a carbon filter from ebay, I see some a good prices like this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=160174559405&Category=42225)
I have a 3" duct coming in from outside but it's blocked by the shingles outside. I mite cut in the wall and pu a duct right in my kitchen. I dont want to do to much cause I'm renting.

- nuts, I'm still not shure what to do, I'm gona go at a local store and see what budy says, or maiby online, but I want to use just a just a simple grow and bloom from the same company.

I think that its for now, I'll be puting pics up soon, I can connects my cam right now to my PC.

OH YA! I ferget! you probably want to know what I did so far!

I got the seeds yesterday, put them in damp towel in a plate right by the baseboard heater, the temp by the seeds was 20C or 68F, it seems cold, but the heat is wide open!!

the 400w mh is ready in the far end of the room

I'll be puting them in beer cups in sunshine mix #1 from sun grow, when I got it, I asked for promix and he asked me if I was just starting and I said yes, he gived me that, I thought it was promix but I dont see promix on it. my friend told me to ask for promix #4 when I go. I'm starting to think its they dont cary promix but a similar soil.

I think thats its!! dont want anyone to be shy of comenting on this! I'll do this grow with youal!

thanks for your support khaleel, i'm gona have some pic up soon, i cant find my cable for the cam.

I put the seeds in soil last night, they'r in a box with no light till i see them come out, then its gona be under the 400 mh.

if anyone knows aprox min/max days or usual amount of days it takes to poke out of the dirt?

Welcome and good luck on your first grow, You got it right with the KISS method. Try placing your seeds up on a dresser or something remember that heat rises and setting your seeds on the the floor right next to the heater might be the coldest place in the house. Just a though. anyway I will keep watching your grow, good luck.

hey! sorry, cant get those pics up, man, I dont even have anuf cash for a USB cable!! haha!!

well, 9/10 sprouted, they'r all under 400mh, it all looks good, exept for when I watered them yesterday, one of them fell on its side in the glass, I think I didnt put the deap anuf? any comments on that! if thats the case, is it bad! I have almost 1 inch to the rim of the glass, I thikn I mite fill it with the mix!

cant wait to have those pics up! then it would be more interesting for youal, its gona be up for sure next weekend!

ya, I know dog! I just moved to a smal town that dosent even have a tim horton, its like a town with no 7eleven in the US! hahaha,, kiding, but, there rare here (10$ from gas station hahaha), I'm leaving right now to visit family, I'll be getting one there!

when the seedling are very small like that they use little water and too much light or heat rather will hurt them until you get your true leaves keep the 400 w M/H a good 3’ away and you can water with a eye dropper small amounts at a time let it soak in then a few more drops as not to disturb the soil and the soil only needs to be moist not wet and water the soil not the plant you can mist the leaves with bubblely water when they get bigger good luck and stay safe

I just got back, left monday, I know, its stupid but they servived! actually almost put me on my rear end when I seen the difrence!! they got quite a few leafs now!

hey georgia, one of my friend told me the same about keeping distance with the light at first, but is that for the first week or 2, I have it now about 1.5'-2' from them, that should be ok for now at day 14 is it??

anyway, sorry for the boring no pic show!

After 2 weeks they should be around 8'' and have had a chance to adjust to the light and heat I would keep the light 20'' from the tops. Are you gonna keep moms for clones or flower all of them to tell sex?

I'm gona clone for sex, so I can keep the moms in the best shap, I'm gona need anuf clone to fill whatever space I take for the 1000w hps,
my room is 5x11, I dont know how much space and clone I should use yet! I'm just going with the flow! lol,, sugestions?

That is I think the best way after they get around two mouths old take three or four clones from each plant and label each clone to each plant and flower one of them and in two weeks you will know the sex the con of that is spending all that time on a male that you should destroy unless you want to make seeds? As for room space that is gonna depend on your intrigue lots of people grow different ways SOG SCOG , How ever you decide I’m sure you will get a lot of enjoyment. What size pots do you have them in and are there any nutrients in the soil? Where I live they sell Black Cow I mix 50/50 and IMO works well.

What are your transplant plans? I use 6 inch ducting and inline fans on the 1000hps myself but you have a bigger area and can fool around with temps better. Good luck on your grow it sounds good so far. Cant wait to see it.

hey t5. I'm planing on transplanting next weekend, just dont have the cash for it, I didnt know that it would overgrow those glasses that quick, but I think it should be ok!

I think I have bad PH, I looked in the infirmery and thats what I conclude for now, that or calcium but I dont think so at this stage. I got a ph tester from a friend, its a hanna, I guess thats a good one they say, but when I changed the battery it still didnt work.

My day temp goes up to 80-83F,
My night temp is 70-75 if I turn on the heat, if not it goes down to 63-68F

well, sorry for the pics, does anyone knows why it says it dosent work?

ok, here's where I'm at, sorry for taking time. I have a few pics from at first but no new one,

I just started nuts this week, I spraid thrive alive B1 tuesday and transplanted the same night in 10" pots. on thursday I watered with AN sensi grow @ around 600-700ppm acording to the online calculator.

on 2-3 plants, the first fan leaves were turning yellow, but I think the nuts will take care of that,

also my ph is around 7.3-7.5 acording to a fish tank drop ph tester. I got some lemon juice to take it down but I dont know how much to put in??

anyway, here are the old pics, I'll get some more later!

hey eastside, looking good!

i used sensi1 grow and bloom for my first grow too, the powder kind... same thing? if so, make sure you add a little grow fert to the bloom during the first three weeks (even consider using grow fert only during the first week or two of bloom). just a tip from first-hand experience with those nutes, if you've never used them before.

hmm, the ph leveling. i use a little dropper/vial kit myself, too cheap to buy an electric meter lol. i'm not sure about lemon juice (i assume you know it to be a reliably safe organic base)... i just buy the ph up/down at the hydro store, but with that stuff adding half a tablespoon will bring a gallon of water up or down about 1 ph point. that's a ballpark estimate, you should be able to figure it out from there. lemon juice is probably similar. it shouldn't take much. just try to add only what you need and not to go back and forth, as you probably know, or your ppm will shoot through the roof with unnecessary particles!

thanks khaleel, sounds like a good idee, I remember hearing somthing like that, but furgot totaly about it, I'll be trying a bit of sensi grow the first few weeks of bloom I think,

my first fan leaves at the botom are turning yellowish with a bit of brown(looks like nitrogen and potasium def), I can just asume its every thing adding up, ph and just started nuts. but all the reste of the plant is looking great!

anyone have any idea's how fast I should increase the ppm of the nuts? daily, weekly, biweekly?
