First Bagseed Grow, problems, pics, hermies?

I heard a quote by Rosenthal, something like, "Smoking marijuana isn't addictive, but growing it is." NO KIDDING!

I've done about a dozen things wrong so far. The worst was, I waited too long from the time my seed hatched in the paper towel, until I put them in soil. Some roots got coiled and stunted a few of them. Five survived. Of these 5, three were males. Then there were two.

I vegged under CFL for 5 weeks. They have been 12/12 under a 400w HPS for 11 days.

Some more details: Plant #1 is approximately 60 cm. Plant #2 is 45 cm (shorter due to root coiling). Both appear indica dominate, but plant #2, more so. Plant #2 also was the first to show sex.

Problem: I think Plant #1 is hermie but I'm a novice so maybe I can get some advice. There is definately pistils on this plant, but there appears to be male preflowers at some of the nodes. I took a pic at one that was showing 2 balls.

Please view my gallery to see the pics. I guess this won't let me post any links cuz I'm a NOOB.

Doesn't look good. Hermies are a pain but sometimes you get one where two or three balls is all they get. You might try scraping them off and keeping an eagle eye open for more.

I was wondering about that. I wish my eyes were a little more skilled. Can someone recommend any good macro shots of hermies? Maybe macro shots of sexing in general would help me too. I've googled quite a bit and the low rez pics I come up with aren't much help.

BTW, I saw Golden Compass tonight. I swear that movie is about cannabis and my government.

Hey Squint..

Sorry, that is definitely a MALE FLOWER... i would post a picture for you.. actually a couple pictures.. BUT I have been having major issues on this site with posting pictures...

i need a tutorial.. LOL

Other than the male flowers, your plants look pretty healthy with vigorous new growth..

They may be sligtly over watered.. the leaves look a bit soft...

Man thanks for your input. Sorry girl, you're going down the disposal, I'm not into wankers.

So are hermies this common. On my first grow, 6 seedlings, 5 made it to flower, 3 males, 1 hermie and a dwarfed female. LOL, I guess it can only get better. I put a few more bagseed from some decent schwag I had a few weeks ago.

With money for xmas I hope to be getting some good seed soon. This was just a test grow. When I was researching my strategy I was surprised to hear someone say when you plant 5 seeds expect 1 good female to make clones from. I guess I believe it now.

lol i had a little better luck with my bagseed grow 10 germ 3 males 1 hermi and 6 fems so the more seeds you plant the more chances to get fems and you only keep the strong ones to take clones from. if it were me i would just grow the 1 fem you have till she is done and in the mean time make a sep place for seedlings/veg area for your new crop when ever you plant.. gl and be safe

@Garden Knowm Over-watering was one of the many mistakes that I've made with this grow. After I got the hang of it these plants are now getting about 2 liters of water every 2 days. I had to correct my drainage problems and cut back on watering initially. Now I have a good idea of how much these plants will consume for their size. The pics I took here are immediately after the watering. The leaves recover a few hours after the water. They are completely horizontal today.

Now that I know what to look for, this plant is covered with pollen sacs. They aren't on the main stem, but about half of the side branches have at least one male sac per node. It's a shame because this plant was the healthiest of the bunch.

I have my second bagseed grow on paper towels now. Maybe I should start a online grow journal. I'm a little more confident now that I've made my NOOB mistakes. My next try will be with a reasonably seed like Mandala's Hashberry.

Here's the hermie flower. It looks like I can post images now.

Thanks, it was weird. The main stem was all female, the branches were male. Anyway I got one good female and she is in full bloom right now. I wonder how big these buds will get. It will be so nice to smoke sinsemilla again. It's been months since I've had it.

I imagine this indica dominate bagseed will be ready in 45-50 days. What to you think?

just buy good genetics from a good seed company to start with and you shouldnt have any problem with hermies. The only time i ever experienced hermies was with badly feminised seeds from "green house seed company' and those guys give a 100% no hermie guarantee, my ass! that arajan guy or whatever his name is over there has obviously never grown a plant in his life, the lepper.. as for spotting hermies, once you spot 1 of the little f***ers you'll never forget what they look like.
