First attempt at Cloning

Hi,

So I\'m planing to clone from my largest plant in about a week. But before attempting I got a few questions need to be clarified.

I bought a humid dome and tray but without thinking i poke two holes on top of the dome. One of my question is, should i cover the two holes or leave it as it is?

Secondly, I\'m thinking if of using sunshine mix #4 with 1 tblsp per gal and about 30% perlite. Do you think this is a good cloning soil mix?

Thirdly, should i moisten the soil before hand with just pH adjusted distilled water or should i add a little of ThriveAlive B1 organic.

Lastly, should i have the light on 18-6 or 24-0?

Thank you.

Are you cloning straight into soil? Check out the sticky from JJScorpio on cloning. It should answer all of your questions. Personally, I have cloned in soil and it works good and have had 100% success in that and using Lou's bubbler method. I use a plain old rubbermaid tub and just cover it with plastic wrap, poking a few more holes per day to allow oxygen in there. Check out JJScorpio and Lou's method. Good luck!!

I clone on 18/6 and 24/0. I mostly do the 18/6 because I keep the mothers 24/0 but I need to take them outside. If I left them at 24/0 they would start flowering when I put them out.....

Dip the stems into water and then into a cloning powder. shake off the excess. Look for a fungicide on the label like thiram to help you.

For the clones, use a small cfl or shop light. I use a grow light for plants and reptiles and place it right on the rubbermaid for 24 hrs a day. Clones don't need an 18 hr cycle cause they aren't alive until they root. Once they root, it is a matter of preference on the light cycle. Personally, I keep all mine on a 24 hr cycle, clones and moms. Good luck and happy growing!!

I\'ll be using sunshine mix #4 with 30% more perlite and a little more dolomite lime. Will be watered with 6.5 pH with some Thrive Alive B1 Organic.

So anyway, i have decided to go with 18-6, since the donor plant is also under 18-6 and i want to utilize the available light in the tent instead of creating a new growbox.

from the image below i still have some space left for a tray and humid dome, just need to shift my pots to the left or right a bit to create extra spaces. Since i only plan to clone about three clones, I think adding one 23watt CFL with reflector on top of the dome should do it right?

Just thought of a question, some say that you shouldn\'t use both organic and chem fertilizer the same plant. My question is, is it safe to continue to use the Thrive Alive B1 Organic on every watering even though I use chemical fertilizer as my main nute (PlantProd 20-20-20)?

thank you guys.

just need to rant (I just finished a 12 hrs assignment for school and now it\'s 5:00 Am and can\'t sleep and school starts in 2 hrs, damn i hate this.)
