so im about to move in a own apartment with a friend and i wanteed to start a autoflower grow in a homebox xs with the ssizes
(inch):23 1/2 x 23 1/2 x 47 1/4
with a 250w hps

and waanted to ask for good strains/what techniques work in that size
and uhm yeah what u think how many plants should grow ....thought about 1gal containers?

If you're thinking of growing with your roommate, I'd also recommend checking out the 'growing with partners' thread first.

Don't forget about quality odor control. If all your neighbors can smell it and you get busted, the rest of the equation just doesn't matter.

For small AF plants, 1 gal containers can be fine, but you'll have to water more and more (up to twice a day) once flowering really sets in. You'd probably be a lot better off using 2 gals, losing a little floorspace, but saving yourself some headaches.

If you're growing AF plants, your training techniques will be kind of limited to natural growth or LST if you really need it. Anytime I've grown AFs, I've found that any topping or supercropping often has negative results on the yields.

Check out Secret Garden Seeds varieties like pinkbud and ogre.

Stay away from Lowlife seeds for the most part.

I've had some nice grows with Mossy's JEM in the past. It's a line that can go green or purple, but often shows purple. I had a lot of grape/grape-spice phenos. It's now available through MarijuanaMat.

Onyx and Mi5 seem to be pretty popular bigger yielding AFs too.

I'd stay away from any Greenhouse or Nirvana genetics for AF seeds. Lots of reports of AFs not actually AFing from these companies.

As much as its a nice strain, sour60 can put off a very strong odor from very small plants. If you go with that one, you better make sure your odor control is flawless.

Best advice I can give you is READ read read on these forums. There's so much information out there, and you can avoid a lot of mistakes by just reading to see what others did.

#1 , growing with a friend makes your chances of meeting handcuffs go up 95%

#2 , if you don't want to listen to my advice. there is multiple ways, but also depends on strain as some are much shorter / taller / wider then others..

-9 1/2 to 1 gallon pots, trim bottoms if they get to wide
-4 1-2 gallon pots, keeping lower sets

coco grows better plants, but is a little more finicky
peat usually has some nutes for first timers, easier to not mess up..
I like lowryder seeds, the DP autos weren't bad either

I have some advice for you. Don't even bother doing a grow if you are living with someone else in your first apartment.

my first grow in my new grow tent i ended up with 1 pollinated sour 60 female. i was have ph issues and nute problems the whole time, and i still ended up with an ounce of bomb ass weed after 60 days(could have gone longer, but since i only had 1 girl out of 6 i said fuck it and used it as a seed run). i LST'ed the shit out of it and that helped to increase my yield, seein as it was started under a 63w led and flowered under a 150w hps. like i said i had problems the whole way through, and i still ended up with some bomb weed and a nice amount of it from sour 60. it has a kind of spicy mango smell that makes me gag if i stick my nose in the jar and smell too deeply. ive got a lot of beans left over from that run, and im definitely gonna be doing some more with sour 60

You could do a mini Sog with a nice number of little budsicle type plants,

Or you could get 4 females in decent pots in that space and Scrog or LST them
