Went to the Indian reserve today for cigarettes and they had FIRECRACKERS for sale, haven’t seen them in a looong time.
They have been illegal anywhere else for years and years. Had to buy a few packs. 😁

they legally sell everything except cherry bombs & M-80s here. you can buy those too, if you know the right "deserted building" to knock on the doors at...last M-80s i bought, moron that made them used a MUCH faster burning fuse. i blew a scorched dent in the drivers door of my old jeep when i lit it & dropped it in a tunnel, and a friend of mine lost two fingers when he lit one to throw it...

Was remembering the firecrackers I would be able to get along the Mexican border areas in the early sixties.
Hand made, of newspaper and shaped like a triangle.
Real inexpensive and power wise they were between a black cat and an M80.
May have been mid sixties when I last saw them. After that they had imported fireworks.

was blind in left eye for about twenty minutes or so from the flash, & could not hear in my left ear for longer. threw the rest of the half gross away after soaking them in water.

sounds a little like this guy's experience with a 50 BMG.

He used the wrong ammo, while making a video.

Then he made a video about the accident, showed his stitches etc.

That's Kentucky Ballistics, experienced firearms guy using an ammo that he knew might be dicey.

There was no follow up video. I think this guy might have died.

The guy at Kentucky Ballistics says in the video that he used some old ammo that he knew might be too fast burning.

To which most of might say, dude that's 16 grams of Nitro-cellulose.

I have damaged 2 bolts and been very lucky that that was it.

Tried 1.5 grams of 296 (magnum pistol powder) in a 5.56. Blew out the magazine, totally jammed the bolt/ bolt assembly. The bolt assembly is the front part.

I saved them. Maybe I should send them to the guy at Kentucky Ballistics, he could do a video on fixing them :)

Anyway, I think the guys playing around with 50 BMG's should try a deliberate over-pressure with 1.5 grams of powder ... before they chance it with 15 grams of powder. 3 inches from their face !

When I was in Amsterdam back in the 90’s on a new year’s eve they rolled up many packs of fire crackers, when they lit them if it popped off the whole roll everybody cheered, if it fizzled out everyone booed. You could hear them going off all over town, red paper everywhere, by 9 am the next morning they had cleaned up all the paper. I guess they no longer do it because they were literally bombs…

Firecrackers are legal in Alaska, though some municipalities prohibit them. This year, up in the Interior, they put a ban on them for fire season, as we've had too many fires going, and many folks don't use their gray matter to its full potential when it comes to dry tinder, matches, and explosives... or much else, for that matter.

When I was a kid, taping an M-80 or even just a firecracker to the bottom of a frisbee and tossing it, was inexpensive entertainment.

I learned that scotch tape, a penny, and a firecracker can make an underwater explosive that will crack a toilet bowl. It was one of many valuable lessons learned my freshman year in the dorm.

I think micro-explosives for small scale mining are kind of fun.

One of the tricks is to NOT MAKE ANY NOISE. Yes that is possible.

It has to be under water - or mud.

And it helps if you run a leaf blower to create background noise because of course it creates a little noise.

It's AMAZING how hard packed the rocks in the ground can be. You can bring the best shovel in the world ... 5 minutes later you will have a broken shovel.

I use an electrical detonator and run the cord about 50 feet.

Well it's a little bit like firecrackers.

One of the problems with fire-crackers can be the fuse. Sometimes they burn faster than the user expects.

picked up a brick of black cats a few years back....quality went to the shitter. I unraveled a pack so I could light the crackers individually and what did I find? All the fire cracker fuses were 1/2 to 1 centimeters long rather than the 3-4 cm I was expecting. Plus the black cats are now about the same size and loudness as thunderbolts, when they used to be larger and way louder. Fire crackers ain't what they used to be.

Fire crackers ain't what they used to be.

8,000 in a wheel will make noise for over 4 minutes. It seems like forever.

My wife and I spent a New Year Eve in Haarlem for our 25th Anniversary. Our hotel room overlooked the Grote markt and we watched the square filling with crazy Dutch folks. They lined up on opposite sides and commenced to trade barrages of rockets of all shapes and sizes. It was quite a sight punctuated by extremely loud hotel shaking explosions a
short distance away.
