FIP's 4k R&D Center

Hey what's up everyone.

This is what I've been working on for the past few days. I needed a place to test beans, try new growing mediums, select mothers, and eventually start a breeding project.

There's 4k of HPS light. The heat from the lights are being vented into my partner's house to keep him warm this winter. That was his idea.

After 13 years of growing in nothing but ProMix, I've decided to give coco a gogo. 20 plants are in straight coco, another 20 are in coco mixed with coco croutons.

Also going on in here are the Baluchi's. My pakistani friend brought back some landrace beans from the Baluchistan region in Pakistan. His family makes hash from the plants that grow everywhere around there. If any of the females prove themselves to have value, I will begin my breeding endeavor.

The plants are a little fucked up right now. The partner misread my instructions and overfed them. They'll back to normal in a couple days and then I'll flip the lights.

There are the Baluchi's, a William's Wonder pheno, and two different Sour Bubble/Sour Bubble x Basic Kush going on.

I'm interested in how you end up liking coco! I really prefer it..

What nutes are you going to be using, or are you going to do some research and comparison and find out what you prefer? I'm sure you've seen the wealth of info in the Coco forum as well as have your own ideas.....

Oh and are you planning any drip or other system or are you going to water by hand?

As a grower who went from promix to coco.....you are on the right path.....IMO of course. I had a hiccup or two when trying it the 1st time.....then went half promix half coco to ease myself in....now i am in 100% coco with croutons. It is the perfect blend of moisture rentention and the croutons on the bottom allow abundent air flow and also keeps the bottom inch from staying soggy.

I know get the same yields off 1-2 gal pots as i used to off of 3gals of promix.....i can fit more too under each light....so inevitably my yields have been gettin better to boot.

Yeah well, I'm about to go have a talk with the old man later on today.

I just found out that for the past two weekends while he was out snowmobiling, his neighbors had keys and access to his house to let his little fucking dog out.

The motherfucker is living on top of a felony and he trusts his dingbat neighbors to have free reign over his house while he isn't there!?!?

I'm pretty pissed. But I'm gonna try and be as nice as I can about it.

I'm pretty sure this ends the 9k op as it is now too.

All the equipment is mine, the property is his.

If he's been paying an ounce of attention to what I've been doing the past 1 3/4 years with him, he can do fine on his own.

It's not much of a partnership when he goes and does stupid shit like this.

So I read him the riot act and told him that if he likes all the benefits of having me as a partner, that he better tighten his ship right the fuck up. He apologized and everything is all good now.



I really think I'm liking the coco. Just the feel of it in my hands is amazing. I love how squishy and spongy it is when it's moist and I squeeze it. The only thing I hate about it so far is breaking up those fucking bales. It's gonna be a week's worth a work if I ever change the 9k op over to coco.

I'm using Bontanicare PBP nutes. For the bloom, I was using the PBP Bloom Soil Formula when I was growing in the Promix, but I think I'll probably switch to straight PBP Bloom, which is I think geared more towards coco and and other soiless mediums. Also I use Liquid Karma and Sweet with every watering.

They are doing much better now. I'll be switching the light cycle back in a day or two.

Baluchis (in Promix) in the front, William's Wonder (in coco) in the back.

These are either Sour Bubble BX(something??) or Sour Bubble x Basic Kush. They came together in one pack of freebies. Pheno 1 (in dirt) in the front, pheno 2 (in coco, with coco chunks) in the back.

Awesome R&D area bro!!! BTW, what is the dealio with having a nutty partner? I'm fairly certain if you actually needed a partner that you could find one that was on the same page regarding risk, security, etc...

You don't need what having a screwy partner can bring you by making a mistake like letting the neighbors roam while he's not home.

F.A.M.I.L.Y. - I'm totally with you. At this point, I certainly no longer need a partner. But this guy isn't just some dude that I happened upon. He's a friend of my real life family (not that you guys aren't, but you know what I mean). He understands also that I no longer need a partner. Given that, he has GOT to play by my rules if he wants me to stick around. He got stupid for a second. I am confident the neighbor didn't do anything. I nipped it in the bud in time.

I've been doing this sorta thing for 15 years...being paranoid all the time and always looking over my shoulder. He's only been at it for a little over a year. He just needed a good kick in the ass.

I'm safe, or trust me, I wouldn't be there.
